13/3/2023 09:41 | Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse with this company .............. What a rotten investment it's proved to be. | keyno
13/3/2023 09:37 | I don't know the rule, but I don't think they can announce a share buy back straight after directors buying... would be insider trading! Although nothing would surprise me any more! Next AGM will be interesting to see how re-election of other Directors goes. (CEO not up for re-election, ..I think) | palisz
13/3/2023 09:27 | It's good news that there buying shares, they may well follow your advice and do share buybacks as if this slide in price continues someone will buy these up | gemlotte55
13/3/2023 09:08 | Directors buying stock... hence why they haven't done a share buy back... Timing is everything and this would normally be good news.. instead it looks like putting directors ahead of shareholders. Poor decision. | palisz
13/3/2023 09:00 | How many days (should I say hours? ) until the unquoted portfolio is valued at zero...all the while the CEO proudly declares the company has £500m in potential liquidity...but won't spend a dime on buying back shares.. what a complete wally. | palisz
13/3/2023 08:56 | Its a non-event for the vast majority, deposits largely covered etc. A warning to pick banks more carefully and some borrowing rates will now rise. SVB was liked as it took risk larger players wouldn't. Increasing US rates has meant some depositors were better off and safer in money market funds (fully covered) or getting towards 5% in T-bills - likes of SVB get squeezed as liquidity tightens. Many of their assets were to be held to maturity but that's no protection when deposits get pulled. It is an example of what happens in periods like this and has some echo in IPO as they have illiquid assets, lots of cash but the market doesn't like it when you can get a half decent cash rate at zero risk - just mho, dyor etc. | p1nkfish
13/3/2023 08:26 | Because they wanted to or was they pushed? 😉 | brucie5
13/3/2023 07:23 | HSBC buys UK arm of collapsed Silicon Valley Bank | gemlotte55
13/3/2023 07:22 | Reassurance re SVB. | brucie5
12/3/2023 15:18 | p1nkfish, I was wondering that myself. No doubt we will find out next week and IPO might even wish to reassure? I do not hold atm but expect some tech to get knocked about in the wake of the US. | brucie5
12/3/2023 12:48 | Any chance SVB might be used by any holdings? Gov stepping in to support so not existential, just another nuisance. | p1nkfish
10/3/2023 16:13 | bamboo210 Mar '23 - 15:17 - 2655 of 2655 0 0 0 Hi Brucie, Have you seen the possible Acacia based scenario I posted on the ONT[582] bb? -------------------- I'll check it out, thanks. I think this board probably needs to be seen as highly contingent on that board and vice versa, as IPO with ONT. Tail and dog comes to mind. | brucie5
10/3/2023 15:17 | Hi Brucie, Have you seen the possible Acacia based scenario I posted on the ONT[582] bb? They report before market opens Thursday 16/3/2023. The right kind of offer would see the end of the current management, and likely the end of IPGroup. Note that Woodford has been associated with Acacia, and he will know the lie of the land. edit, Would a buyback help management defend the co against a hostile bid? | bamboo2
10/3/2023 12:50 | Yes, agreed, and whole market down today. My folio which carries considerable value/income bias currently down 2.3%, so IPO (3.1%) not an outlier by much. 55p hit, and I think 50p may indeed follow. But question is, what then. Or, what level is so absurd that the equivalent of PE decides to correct the anomaly? I understand that PE is not likely; but some cherry picking of distressed asset prices? Anyone recall Shell at £9 in late 2020? Why did we all buy? At some point pension funds need to consider where the growth is going to come from tomorrow, never mind the dividends today. On a ten year view, and assuming continued progress with just the ten top holdings, where is IPO share price? | brucie5
10/3/2023 12:05 | Anything long dated & liquid, unless it's lucky enough to have some positive momentum, is way out of favour. Value doesn't matter currently as money could be stranded and dead for ages in such vehicles. Jam tomorrow, irrespective of NAV discount, isn't enough. IPO an example. | p1nkfish
10/3/2023 11:33 | Market showing it's opinion on the presentation and lack of any near term catalyst. CEO should be worried! | palisz
09/3/2023 17:15 | Recording is up on IMC site now. | p1nkfish
09/3/2023 16:39 | I do think this is an extraordinary bargain and if it gets any cheaper I may start buying. It may even get to 50p from what I see on the chart, to form a double bottom with last October low. This decline will have taken between 18 months to two years to play out and who knows what awaits the markets over the summer months. But the folio gives strength in diversity, it has huge cash buffer and of course, IP, although a bit skewed by ONT, which is the other share to watch. That itself could yet fall below £2, or find support. Is there by any chance a recording of yesterday's webinar? TiA. | brucie5
09/3/2023 15:59 | Will add the latest to the header at the weekend, if I can muster up the enthusiasm. :o( | bamboo2
09/3/2023 15:57 | IPGroup at 57p valued at approx £588,995,059 With the cash and borrowings, they could buy the whole company! | bamboo2
09/3/2023 15:41 | I can't see them wanting the outflows. | bjfanc
09/3/2023 12:56 | Or buy their own stock at this level? | p1nkfish
09/3/2023 12:37 | To narrow NAV gap, they need a decent strategy for selling to retail. Given they are competing with all the other fund houses. | bjfanc
09/3/2023 11:43 | A big shareholder proposing a wind-up and return of capital might just have some impact. Otherwise I very much doubt they will do anything. | p1nkfish |
