palisz, In the past I have tried to engage with management about this issue and the associated disconnect between shareholder and management incentives.

They recognised it, but just shrugged their shoulders, as though they were powerless to intervene. It's clearly unfair that shareholders and managements interests are unaligned.

I have also written about the lack of clarity in significant holdings.

There is no up to date list on the website, although I was told over a year ago it would be added. In the past few years we have seen some massive transfers of holdings. Many days trades have exceeded the 3% and/or 5% [foreign holders] reporting thresholds, [not to mention the requirement to notify incremental percentages] but no TR-1 is announced.

Again they recognise the issue, but say they can only announce what is reported to them.

It seems unlikely that they are really so ignorant of the details of their shareholder base. It creates suspicion and distrust.

If everyone on this feed sent an email to ir, it would be a good start.

I will continue to press the issue, and vote against any re-election of Directors at the forthcoming AGM...

I sent this yesterday... I think everybody should write and complain.
These guys a F clueless when it comes to markets and shareholders.

Dear IP Group,

After today's presentation I wanted to make one observation and repeat one comment.

Observation: Lots of skillfully answered questions on share buy backs...clearly investors (incl me) find the answers leaving us frustratingly mis-understood

To be very precise.
The company seems happy to make further investments in most of its portfolio.
This is great news as it clearly shows strong management conviction in the investments.
However, If you take the share price, and deduct the value of cash and Nanopore, the remaining portfolio of excellent companies can be bought for 10% of their valuation.
You are happily paying 100% !!
Ridiculous, and I know you agree.
This is so illogical and a lack of confidence in the overall portfolio valuation.
So again I ask the board to reconsider, you buy low and sell high.
Start a share buy back...

Looks like back to the bottom, which would be 55p level, perhaps slightly less. The market is signally unimpressed by bod's strategy on addressing shareholder concerns. And given the huge size of the company, it's cash balance and extent and timeline of its interests, it seems to operate outside any need to do so.

palisz, which five companies would you say, aside from ONT are likely to be near drivers of value? I'm assuming FLF in there - but it still seems very futuristic.

Management have small shareholdings, CEO is looking to buy more, feels he is aligned with shareholders!

Portfolio has been cleaned up (I guess dead companies no longer included), and a few top companies got high lighted...really are interesting bunch, including flying cars!
Played a clip which look like it in part came from Blade runner! lol

Listen to replay, but they did cover unlisted valuations.
The valuations were not inflated with the 2021/22 craziness, so no need to mark down. Independent valuations were used, confirmed there conservative approach, continued same methodology, some likely under valued if I recall correctly, mentioning Hinge health.
But seemed fair.

Welcome. Frustrating presentation, many exciting investments but can't see any near term catalyst. I'll keep holding, as I think they are cheap. But so are many other companies. DYOR

ok...now over 90 mins long...

My feedback comment...

So many direct questions on the share buy back...all so carefully fielded. Facts remain buying back means buying same portfolio company's just at an 85% discount... Really not happy with the answers.

ENDED... ''Exciting'' the most repeated , over played word of the day!!

Buy back.. the most asked and most avoided question!

asked again...The portfolio looks really exciting and clearly your investing across the universe, why would you not buy back your shares which is effectively buying the same company's just 85% cheaper!?

CFO going on about how financially strong the company is, all very cozy., If you bought these shares at the IPO in 2003...you would have made.....ZERO!

Talking about Oxbotica. Really can't fault the portfolio, some very exciting companies, just need to be more proactive when it comes to the share price.

Stakeholders- question is always what priority is given to each type. Not all stakeholders are created equal. Somehow I reckon market stakeholders are down the list somewhat. No doubt justified in the minds of IPO management but off putting to market stakeholders - hence the valuation.

Long dated returns not in favour at the mo too.

The biggest issue for me is this....After cash and ONT the remaining assets are trading at 10c /$. Why is the company not doing the promised share buyback, particularly as 50% of the assets per share is non performing cash for the last year.
Realisations of £28m, and the CEO said clearly buybacks would be started when the company had realisations to fund it. No excuses... they failed to do as they promised.
No doubt when the shares eventually rally to 100p+ they'll start a buy back...just like last time! Weak!
