Compared to the scale of other high-profile data losses that run into the millions of user account details, credit card details, etc. this IS a complete non-issue. 5,000 is absolutely NOTHING these days! Losses ten times bigger than this happen on a weekly basis all around the world and no one bats an eyelid these days, so taking this in the wider context and you'll understand why I say this is a total non-issue, its certainly not affecting the share price.

I am not a shareholder I am a customer. Of course I told the company! why dont you reaad my previous post.

You are a shareholder and therefore a fractional owner of the business. If you dont want to know about problems your customers are facing with the business you own then you are as bad as the management.

Am I short? I am 5'7" or thereabouts. Is that short??

As a shareholder surely you are also interested and invested in the prospects of the Company. As a shareholder, did you tell the Company? What was their response?

Or are you short?

This is the email the was sent to Skymarket customers regarding the migration to "Internetters" a trading division of Iomart.

Internetters is supposed to be a brand, that said their adherence to brand integrity is pretty flimsy - I have been contacted by people in their customer service department who think they work for Easyspace and others who think they work for Iomart. Brand distinction is extremely important when you are growing an IT business. If you want to lead with a brand then you need to demonstrate a high level of integrity to it or you will denigrate the value of your brand and cause confusion to your customers.

You will note there is no mention of a customer support number, or the vital words in these processes, "Help Line". No mention of help or support which is what customers desperately need to hear and it's what keeps them loyal. Just referral to a "control panel" which no new customer will be familiar with and will have to navigate their way around to learn how it works..

Soft skills are desperately lacking in this company. History dictates that to grow a successful brand/s you need to have proper brand management. Their brands are little more than logos and stickers, and as such they can't function to create value for the business..

Anyway, this is the cretinous email I received – drafted by a techie with no interpersonal skills. Absolutely appalling. I have removed links and server details:

Dear Customer

As you have now been fully migrated to Internetters all your services should be running without any issues. However there may be some issues with customers email.

Your old email settings should continue to operate due to the use of "proxy" servers allowing the two platforms to co-exist, however we strongly recommend all customers change their email settings to bypass the proxy server and ensure a stable email platform by following the below instructions.

Your username is now in the format SKYMARKET-MAILBOX-USERNAME@DOMAIN-NAME e.g. chris-mail@mydomain.com (this might be your email address but is not necessarily) your password is unchanged.

If this works, you may edit your email settings on your computer as follows:
Incoming mail server: pop.xxxxx.com (or imap.xxxxx.com if you are using IMAP)

Outgoing server: smtp.xxxxx.com
Username: (your full email address)
Password: (unchanged)

The outgoing email email server requires authentication, please ensure this is enabled (use same logon details as incoming server).

The outgoing server port can be either 25 or 587.

Please note that some customers were previously using APOP (Authenticated POP) this option should not be selected.

Also note that some users are attempting to use imap but entering pop.xxxxx.com or the other way around attempting to use POP but entering imap.xxxxx.com, whilst with the legacy Skymarket system this did not impact, it is important that the correct service is now used. We recommend IMAP to any customers who had previously used POP and selected to leave a copy of the mail on the server as POP was not designed for this purpose whereas the newer IMAP protocol is.

Full email guides are available via

If you have any issue please contact Internetters support via your control panel (No help line, no offer of support, in other words – sort it out for yourself)

Kind Regards
Internetters

When a process is imposed upon a customer by a company then there is an obligation for the company to make the process as painless and straightforward as possible. This process was made to be an ordeal for skymarket customers and

I am absolutely livid by the way this was handled.

Skymarket was one of the first service providers in the internet space. Its customers were in the main very loyal and valued the service and we were also prepared to pay for a premium service. Iomart have reduced expectations on service and dragged the service levels down to what would be expected at the bottom end of the market.

To make matters worse the only thing that creates a response from the company is not genuine customer concerns, but when their actions cause embarrassment to shareholders and shareholders tell the company. How cynical is that?

Nurdin, i haven't the time or the inclination to indulge the CEO who obviously sits in an ivory tower and has no clue whats going on until the wheels come off. Then it's all about fighting fires. That's reactive management and cost business's fortunes putting things right which should never have gone wrong. I'm sure heads will roll and asses will be kicked but its all too late. The communications from the company notifying customers of the integration of skymarket have been abysmal. highly technical longwinded instructions full of jargon. they don't even consider the profile of their customers as laymen and not technical people. I will post the instructions they sent out here tomorrow when i have time. I am furious not just because I have had so much of my time wasted yesterday and today, but more because with some joined up planning and thoughtful oversight it could have been handled much more efficiently. Why should I as a customer be put through this process when I didn't choose to go to this company? There is no reason to stay with a provider who is so incompetent. There will be significant churn as a result of this botched job .

That is really disturbing.Perhaps you guys should send an email to the Iomart CEO highlighting the issues you have encountered?

I did it this morning.....will gladly post the reply (assuming I get one)

I find it very hard to believe that a professional successfull Company would use such wording

''We look forward to making things up to you by providing an ever improving service moving forward.''

If you actually read this correctly then ''making things up'' implies lies.

Draw your own conclusions

The email I recieved contained just under 5000 confidential customer usernames, so how they can say it was a very small number is beyond me. If i start seeing an uptick in spam I will know who to blame.

Dear
NOTE: YOUR INTERNETTERS EMAIL SERVICE :

We apologise for the extended list of first usernames sent in a previous email. Please disregard the first email and note the replacement.

The email was sent to a very small number of customers before an issue with the email merge was noted and the mailing halted, hence the prompt issuing of a replacement.

We look forward to making things up to you by providing an ever improving service moving forward.

A copy of the full email is below.

Best regards

If they hit analyst forecasts which average around 7.6p for EPS in 2013, at 204p they're at a PEG of around 1.2.

Question is can they beat those forecasts because at current sp, there is a lot of expectation here. Has anyone else come up with their own forecasts for 2013 EPS?

If the fibre optic project is to take 10 years it would seem the returns will be long term so investors may need patience.

The short term reaction is very encouraging though.

Maybe some news about the size of the Geo Network contract will come out with the results.

Iomart, the Glasgow-based website hosting company, is investing millions of pounds in a new optical fibre network to provide its customers with faster connectivity.

The firm has entered into a ten year agreement with Geo Networks to deliver high capacity fibre connectivity into its six UK data centre locations.

The new 1,860 kilometre fibre network means that Iomart will no longer rely on routing customers' connectivity via multiple providers, giving it total control over its own network.

Chief executive Angus MacSween said: "We are investing millions of pounds over the next decade to give Iomart one of the fastest and most resilient fibre networks of any cloud computing company in the UK.

"It allows us to take our network right up to our customers' doors which is of huge benefit to organisations wanting secure, private cloud environments."

The new system will make connectivity between Iomart's Glasgow and London data centres four times faster than the current industry average.

The group did not put a precise figure on the contract
