I know some have asked who were the sellers.

I was lucky to get a peek at what went on mid June to mid July.

interestingly it seems 3 MMS went to zero off loading around 1 mill. The largest of those being investec. Such things are not always up to date, but it may explain now why some say stock is limited on the buy side and we seemed to have so much about a few weeks back.

Still on poor WiFi so will digest it a bit more and post later.

Had a look at RB Energy on Stockhouse. Not a happy place. Some fair analysis (eg nookiewookie) amongst the bickering in harmony with SG's conclusions but not so well written :-) Amused by the post below: at least someone's heard of us :-)

What do you think of Iofina? I know that they are a very small player, but their costs seem really low. Can they ramp up and be significant? Are they worth investing in as a small player with good margins?

1Mad maybe the case that if there was a delay to the forecast dates the Nomad would insist on an RNS but if it were just good news that we'd all like to hear the Nomad would argue it was not material ;-(

Magwich had certainly been hoping myself that I05/6, or something on the minis, or both would be RNSed this month as imo they are critical points in IOF's development. However suppose that it's now only 7 bus days to wait if they want to add more items to the July production figs. Would also be nice to have a CEO. Or an iodine contract. Or water app in ND. Or anything :-)

Well from the recent posts it certainly looks as thoughCosayach are going to struggle going forward. Great news and great research. As far as RNS 's are concerned, we have already been told when they will be running so we will get confirmation when we get the next production update IMHO. Hoping for a scorching second half to the year ;-)

You just never know? From RNS dated 9th June.IO#5 Production PlantIO#5 remained idle as the plant awaits connection to the power grid. Hard power installation began the last week of June and is targeted to be completed within the next two weeks. IO#6 Production PlantConstruction at IO#6 is complete. The final tie with the oil and gas operator was delayed by three weeks owing to a matter which was out of the Company's control. This connection is expected to be completed on or by 25 July 2014.All depends if they leave the news until the beginning of August to combine the production update, either way, if they are up and running the market should show us.

Unlikely imo there will be any update until the July production figures come out which I would expect in 10 days or so.

Just some bits re what happened in the past and who Cosayach are connected to should they go belly up.

In 2001 SQM were on the verge of a T/O of Cosayach for 140mill for whatever reason it didn't happen.
Dsm Holland were also in Chile and had a derivatives business, in 2006 SQM bought them and thus have a derivatives section in Holland.
Minera Falcon appeared as Chile producers. In 2003 SQM bought them and closed it down.

Cosayach are partnered with Pantheon who have derivative businesses in India, Holland and the US.
In the US it's called North American iodine.

I was aware Cosayach did quite a bit of business in the US so now we know which route that is.

North American iodine are in Texas.

So maybe an opportunity there should Cosayach fail.

Back to reality I hope if they can get the six plants producing over 60t per month we should be looking at a share price above 75p again.

That's the problem H they don't have a plan B for any water law changes. They delayed the move due to unforseen circs in the sectors they are in.

Plan B would have to be on the hurry up.

Pampa is their only option in Chile. The fact they planned to move their this year sums up their position.

It takes years to get the necessary EIA and other legal issues sorted.

They do seem to be determined to get back to 30 percent of the market, but current mines are not the answer for that.

Fresh

The actual 150 litre per second article quotes the required use of desalinated seawater.
For now I'm assuming just raw seawater, pumping that 60k and 7000 feet up costs plenty anyway.

If the government are going to announce the changes as forecast, we should know in the next few weeks.

I presume when we say w'work on seawater' we mean desalinated.

Otherwise they have the problem of disposing of the salt inland without damaging the aquifers?

I wouldn't think SQM are on 30 to 35 at Neuve, they said recently they could go to 30 on the price. El toco was certainly high cost and it's closed.

I'd have to check back but I think NV is where their nitrates have already gone below the cut off grade.

No way will they build a pipeline IMO to that area it would be dead money and too high cost on opex. The long term plan is pampa blanca the 665mill move. In any case they haven't done an EIA for Neuve for a pipeline as they had plans to move. The EIA app and all the other legislation would probably take a few years.

We forecast water problems, but not water law changes which SQM list as a significant risk to their business.

Within 2/3 years it seems SQM will have to operate entirely on seawater. So will all using over 150 litres per second.

Bullmine I believe stuck to the law, had no water rights, so trucked in seawater. They had plans for a pipeline which most likely has now been abandoned. Their opex is said to be in the 40's

But on Victoria yes I had thought of the drop production to extend the life situation. Their other sectors are getting hit so they are in efficiency cost saving mode.

Hence I keep going on about those pending water law changes. SQM analysts don't seem to have the slightest clue about that, or the fact that they closed a mine and plant.

SQM know the water law steam train is heading their way, I make sure they do.

The important stuff is 'hidden' in their form 20f not the full financial results, it's about 360 pages worth.

If I could get hold of Ben isaacson he would have some very interesting questions to ask in the next conference call.
