05/6/2014 08:21 | Mister Big Having read the PRG rns this morning I get your excitement re diamond mine investment, they have always fascinated me, but for an investment in a mine it offers up a chance of block buster events (large stones) for small miners. Something which you can't really get other than waiting for a first oil strike. Diamond mines always have the potential of something spectacular. Sadly with PRG I think it will be taken out so the opportunity may never come, but it's a big high quality big diamond play, if they get their stage 1 financing sorted out. On that topic, I note your France comment, so there will be some french letters flying around in great number if that happens. With your interest in coloured diamonds there may well be an opportunity elsewhere in Surrey lol. One to watch over the next 6/12 months. | superg1
05/6/2014 06:58 | given the much increased share volume 10 days or so leading up to May production figures where the share price increased over 50% thereabouts, pretty clear from subsequent movement that much of the rise was already priced in...wonder how that came about then? lol ....and for those buying in the mid 20's some very decent short term trading gains ...so with the large swings, Iofina has inevitably attracted the traders... ....imo best to focus on fundamentals which are coming together very nicely; in a couple of months hopefully see Iofina re-rated (confidence in new management by then, a new CEO appointment under Lance Baller watchful Chair) | orslega
04/6/2014 23:12 | Interesting we closed lower today than before the excellent RNS yesterday giving the much improved production figures. The market still doesn't get it. | freshvoicem
04/6/2014 20:39 | Cyber, To me, that 600k looks like a buy, as you say it was declared yesterday at 16:25. It would explain the very strong rise in the past few days as the MMs would have needed to harvest shares from the market to supply the buyer: 2014-06-03 16:26:20 61.00 30,000 60.50 61.00 Buy 18,300 O 2014-06-03 16:25:31 61.60 600,000 56.50 62.00 ? 369,600 O 2014-06-03 16:21:08 60.25 3,257 60.00 60.75 Sell 1,962 AT If it had been a sell, then the price would have been substantially lower to get buyers above the price the quote went through at to absorb the supply? There wasn't 600k shares bought above 61.6p to absorb it had it been a sell. There were quite a few sellers today too, the fall today was the MMs working to harvest enough shares to fulfill the remainder of that order IMHO. I wonder who traded it? | che7win
04/6/2014 20:21 | SG (and others), thank you for working away at the Cosayach situation despite the uncertainties arising from translation and terminology. No need to apologise for it! If what seems to be emerging, that Cosayach production will be heavily reduced, does prove to be the case, its impact on IOF's bottom line should noticeably exceed that of adding another plant or two. And with no additional issues re brine, power, debris, maintenance, chemicals, weather and yet another hour on Lance's working day! | hew
04/6/2014 18:58 | Re this paragraph "Furthermore, defendants Francisco Javier Errazuriz, Waldo and Alejandro González Bravo Puelles accepted the conditional suspension of proceedings, in addition to the closure of the water wells, which will be supervised by the prosecution to substantiate compliance." In this case it seems Errazuriz the boss was a defendant too. It says they accepted the conditional suspension of proceedings IN ADDITION to the closure of wells. Does that means suspension of operations, and what is to be supervised, closing of wells of the 'suspension of proceedings' Which I knew the answer as if the Cos production has been decimated, then it will be smiles all round here. I thought we would see near $60 per kg by 2016, but we may see much better prices short term, re-rating things a bit. IE $10 to $15 rises mean $30m to $45m extra profit over a 3 year period on 700 mt. It's not a daft figure v recent 38 to 40 prices mentioned | superg1
04/6/2014 18:56 | That 600K trade is from yesterday, timed at 16.25 but was surely a worked trade at that price? I would think it was more likely to be a sell order on the opening bell with the good news? Was there enough buying above 61p for the rest of the day to offset it? | cyberbub
04/6/2014 18:50 | Not really - I believe in the long run iofina is a company with a sustainable moat and competitive advantage . That's why I'm overall short of equities , short french bonds and short euro ! China is a train crash waiting to happen . | mister big

04/6/2014 18:32 | phsycho No I haven't mentioned it but saw it and the rufferingsufferingra If you look more closely at Cosayach, it seems they are just a bunch of crooks. | superg1
04/6/2014 18:29 | Hi fresh. Basically they dissolve a bunch of different salts out of the ground then pump the resulting solution into big evaporation pools. As the water evaporates the different salts crystallize out in a predictable order. You can see how they'd go through a lot of water. The evaporation pools look really cool on google earth. I've got coordinates for one of sqm's (but not to hand), I'll post them tomorrow. Arron - I'm surprised at your position of both expecting a Chinese debt implosion and being positive on iof. Given how dependant Chile is on Chinese copper demand a significant downturn in China would take a lot off pressure off the competition. Anyway would like to hear your thoughts. | testuser123
04/6/2014 18:29 | Fresh Mine the caliche, (dusty powdery mix) pile it up in a heap, then pour a shed load of water over it. The water leaches out the iodine and nitrates. The water is collected and carted off to the treatment plants to remove it from the water. | superg1
04/6/2014 18:27 | FV.... can't confirm if its a buy or sell but would love it to be a buy. We traded 800k shares in total today so a 600k buy after the bell would be great. I am not selling an time soon though, hopefully better times to come | swsmith20
04/6/2014 18:25 | You probably have already mentioned this point SG, but I didn't see it if you have.. from a newspaper article "Meanwhile, the company is facing another controversy after national assets minister Catalina Parot announced that Cosayach illegally used fiscal land to install pipelines to transport iodine and nitrates concentrates, paper La Tercera previously reported." | phsycho
04/6/2014 18:16 | Just noted 600,000 late trade at 61.6 p. Was it buy or sale my guess at that price it is a buy, any opinions or facts? | freshvoicem
04/6/2014 18:15 | What method do they use for producing Iodine that needs so much water? | freshvoicem
04/6/2014 17:47 | Are you still awake. Below is a link to the full court document in relation to the SQM challenges over the Cosayach Soledad environmental impact assessment or lack of it. I've no idea what the outcome was but that may be irrelevant as I noted a couple of paragraphs included below the link. Note Pozo Almonte gets a mention again and there is a reference which seems to suggest Cosayach were not allowed under any circs to take water restricted as shown (looks like 574 l/s rights they are not allowed to touch. As they have now been dealt with for theft of water of environmental damage. I'm wondering if the Soledad area is also affected. target='window'>http In relation to water resources in the job Soledad, industrial water consumption is 85 I / s will be supplied by Aguas del Altiplano matrix, for which has an existing contract to supply water to 100 Us be used in the industrial process Al effect were analyzed background on the use of these waters and concludes that it does not affect protected aquifers by the DGA and does not consider the extraction of water resources belonging to indigenous human groups over the longer authorized to Aguas del plateaux. 04/6/2014 17:47 | It's an interesting question - I don't think the production number was particularly good , it was in line with what was known about short term issues / down time . I don't know the answer ! | mister big
04/6/2014 17:45 | superg1 4 Jun'14 - 16:12 - 21717 of 21727 3 1 Mr B On that basis, any idea why aggressive buying and good price rise started in the run up to the rns release showing a really good production month? :-) -------------------- Speculators/gamblers G ;-) | germanicus

04/6/2014 17:12 | Mister Big, I still disagree, once the 6 plants are running variable monthly production should be relatively small so why should we not be regularly reassured. Basically if we were given monthly updates last year we would not have had the boom then bust and it would have forced management to wake up and smell the coffee. Instead, they just buried their heads in the sand ignoring the juggernaut that's about to wipe them out. The production numbers would have forced them to be honest. | 1madmarky
