Bobsworth,
Good post, a couple of mobile units on high ppm sites makes a lot of sense to me.

SQM results with a significant drop in iodine production just demonstrate their lost production is up for grabs by a low opex operator like iofina. Its a shame we do not have more immediate output to keep the pressure on the Chileans. I wonder if the planned roll out of mobiles might be the cost effective answer that can quickly crank up production by targeting those numerous high ppm iodine sites.

But it can't possibly be a dead heat. SHONNY said that it would be red. He said it would be 60p. Can you check again? SHONNY's never wrong - he ALWAYS calls it right.

Well shonny - ten minutes to go. Will it be red or blue? Come on, give us your view or are you waiting for confirmation?

EDIT: 5 mins to go. The tension is unbearable.

EDIT Looks like goal-line technology coming into play

JoeStalin - good initials Sir; I think those last six posts nail it here for the moment. Good job there's not loads of thought provoking stuff flying about at the minute isn't it.

nellyb - I sense your irritation . . . Now about the 'livin dead'. Nah, let's not go there.

On the other hand, regarding red - I have a degree in Art & Design.

On the other, other hand, blue is now the new red.

Added: But not for long!

What fun we're having here . . .

Not so. Scarlet is more red than rose and crimson is even more red than that.

Shonny is right again. If it were not for public spirited citizens like Shonny, this sort of thing would go unnoticed.

SG, i have in my notes that plants IO7 onwards (for the forseeable future) have land leases etc all organised. Do we know if this is actually the case or does IOF still need to organise these prerequisites? Tia.

PS At least with quarterly updates we should have a good idea soon and with an update on IO6 Iof would need to give us an idea of their plans thereafter.

A thought

SQM and the Chileans spread their opex across the various products as some products derive from the same process.

If water comes along for every $5m profit (if achieved)it in theory knocks off $10 per kg per 500mt of iodine produced, $5 for 1000mt etc.

About 6000 bpd per day of hot water, if they get the permit and do hot to achieve that.

Up to 100,000 barrels needed to frack one well.

6k bpd = 2 wells fracked per month in the Bakken area, that in the future expects 30,000 to 50,000 wells to be drilled.

Hence with hot and cold options (hot wasn't around until recently), until a permit is achieved, and the strategy known, amount of sales, hot or cold, it's a guessing game. But a game that seems highly lucrative.

It seems hot water is selling for high prices, probably a demand supply issue, and certainly those temporary 'depots' won't be forking out expense on hot water filling facilities.

Armstrong hot water opex on desired temps comes out at $2.10 pb with prices of $5 to $6 pb.
