Apologies to all for the "slightly" off topic posts. The small amount I have read about Iodine is nothing to the regulars on here and I am considering buying more IOF. This share has to fly unless like a lot of AIM companies the small PI does not have the full picture.

obbig, in the 50's iodine was used in the Uk as a dough conditioner for bread. The government at the time enforced a ban stating health reasons, ironically since then thyroid related problems have increased per head of population. The article i gleaned this from pointed out that iodine was not subsequently added to any other "en masse" product. Thanks for the salt tip.

field3 - possibly the cheapest and easiest solution is to start using Iodised Salt for table salt and cooking. Cerebos brand available from Sainsburys and possibly other supermarkets. Not clear how much Iodine it contains though.
I think there is a real need for this to be more widely available here, it is a standard product in the US.
Added: It contains Potasium Iodate to give an Iodine content of not less than 1150 micro-grammes per 100g. 2g of Cerebos Iodised Table Salt provides at least 15% of the Recommended Daily Allowance of Iodine.

sg1, very sensible getting iodine for the family. As Fukushima also released radioactive particles into the atmosphere, which in turn are dissemuinated across the northern hemisphere, it makes sense that the UK will have suffered some degree of fallout. A quick search found this:



It doesnt mention caesium-137, which is one of the major radioactive components used in the fuel rods and also important to know about health wise. It has a half life of about 30 years and is absorbed by the body because it is "mistaken" for potassium. Potassium iodide which is found in Lugol's is the recommended remedy, however thats just one isotope, also the body needs iodine for many more reasons.

yep after studying up on iodine, I found myself hunting for supplements for all the family, amazing really how important it is in the diet.

I thought it was a disinfectant and couldn't work out why it would be an interesting investment.

Then I realised it's in and used for watches, computers, phones, anything with a computer chip in it, all contrast screens, xrays, diagnostic injections, printing, batteries, permanent disinfection coatings, fish pest control, animal feed, biocides, pesticides, clean coal technology, tyre making ............ the list is huge.

Then I see they now see at as the future for lithium batteries to double their capacity and halve the weight without the fire risks, used in a compound to replace platinum in catalytic converters, splitting grapheme layers, satellite rocket fuel.

It really is a wonder element whose only use I thought was disinfection.

Technology will increase the demand for it, and in many cases there is nothing to replace it.

Commercial resources are scarce

Just thinking about the timing of the announcement of the H1 results.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of putting them out close to the end of the month.

This should offer the maximum opportunity to line up as many positives as possible to include in the section on what's happened since the close of the reporting period. It also brings closer the realisation of the objectives for Q4 so the forward looking statement is likely to have more credibility if timescales are shorter and achievements seem closer at the time of the statement.

field3, I have very weak brittle nails. I use kelp tablets which really strengthens them up. You can get them from any health food shop. I don't use any particular brand but Holland and Barrett tend to be a little weaker than others so you need to take more.

Field, I seem to remember reading on this thread or another IOF one, that if you dab a small amount of Tincture of Iodine on say your wrist maybe once a month than the rate at which it is absorbed through the skin is a reasonable indication of your bodies deficiency. If it's gone in a few hours then you need it and if it is still there longer then you don't. I have been doing this for some time now and boy has my crossword ability improved!

Field - Try "Lugol's iodine". About 10-20 quid per bottle, depending on where you get it from and depending on the % strength. Wiki has some notes on it, which may help due to there being a number of suppliers now.

Could anyone recommemded a good source of iodine supplement. I was thinking of kelp powder but don't know which brand or if there is a better source for daily consumption.

I am invested in IOF at much higher price but very confident for the future especially having read up on Iodine deficiency. In fact it took a lot of time to understand iodine importance and I jumped aboard initially because of the water business but now understand this is a bonus.

just an attempt to keep it below 150 is a common thought across the board. They are not the aggressive type, and haven't the slightest clue what is going on behind the scenes.

One supply that was around to help j=hold it back is near done. who knows re others.

In that vodaphone example, such a massive deal with big companies, no doubt many involved, yet the market didn't see it coming.

There are some really pants companies about that look a good short, but some have twists that could pop up anytime to spoil the party quite significantly.

With IOF and it's many facets, I think it's nuts to take the risk, especially with USGS comments, wells going in, secrecy around oil that may have been found. Weil intents re helium, water and the big companies wanting in on it etc etc. Then the iodine and the history of T/O's on that.

Select energy has been one I've been sitting on for a while. They have a history of acquisitions.

I'm working off figures a couple of years old now but Select made 17 acquisitions re the water side, Heckmann near half, 25 between them.

So some can call it BS all they like, they haven't looked anywhere near as close at it as the PI's here.

'The Houston-based company has now bought a total of 17 oil & gas field water management businesses.'

They are in the bakken and have made acquisitions there too.

I doubt he likes of Ennis have even heard of them

Absolutely baffled by Ennismore. Seems to me (and a few others) that Natural Resource stocks have been through the capitulation phase and are on the bounce. Ennismore have been very lucky to get to this point with their short still good, and a good time to take a profit.

Yet (apart from knowing very little about IOF) Ennismore have chosen this moment to add to their short position. Could be that the Nokia story is going to replay especially for them. From our POV, as SG says it's a major buy in waiting.

Croc: end of month would surely allow at the very least I02 to be connected to the right pipes at last, and I03 to be commissioned/producing. Possibly more :-)

Those of delicate disposition will still worry, though ;-(
