22/5/2013 07:38 | nice shiny new thread. Am voting down all my flitered posts as well. Is there a point at which ADVFN with enough thumbs downed posts will ban someone? Anyway, looking forward to some more tranquile discussions on the future prospects. Thanks SG1 for all your hard work. Really is appreciated. | xippy
22/5/2013 07:31 | Jod-Basedow phenomenon [jod′ bä′zəd Etymology: Ger, Jod, iodine; Karl A. von Basedow, German physician, 1799-1854 thyrotoxicosis that may occur when dietary iodine is given to a patient with endemic goiter in an area of environmental iodine deficiency. It is presumed that iodine deficiency protects some patients with endemic goiter from development of thyrotoxicosis. The phenomenon may also occur when large doses of iodine are given to patients with nontoxic multinodular goiter in areas with sufficient environmental iodine. Also called iodine-induced hyperthyroidism. Mosby's Medical Dictionary, 8th edition. © 2009, Elsevier. Hope that helps. | n3tleylucas
22/5/2013 07:22 | Prof Margaret Rayman said: "Our advice is to make sure they have enough iodine intake, and take additional iodine in safely, probably from food - dairy products, fish." Dr Bath warned against using kelp or seaweed supplements, as they are packed with so much iodine it could cause problems. -------------------- "If you take a supplement during pregnancy, the thyroid gets stunned and goes down. Taking a supplement during pregnancy may not be the best thing to do." Dr Mark Vanderpump -------------------- Hope that helps. "After iodine fortification programs (e.g., iodized salt) have been implemented, some cases of iodine-induced hyperthyroidism have been observed (so-called Jod-Basedow phenomenon). The condition seems to occur mainly in people over forty, and the risk appears higher when iodine deficiency is severe and the initial rise in iodine intake is high" | n3tleylucas

22/5/2013 06:40 | Well well. Results of a study released today reveal that a lack of I during pregnancy can lead to babies with reduced intelligence and reading scores. Women of child rearing age are recommended to maintain levels via dairy produce and fish. I don't think dietary supplements feature though. | chumbo

22/5/2013 00:55 | Hi all, I thought I would step back into the new thread. It was interesting today that each time I looked to top up in any quantity over 2000 shares, I was quoted 241p or higher! I could sell for 233p at the time. I could never buy at those levels. It would be nice for some the institutions who have seen the presentations to force the share price above 250p in the next few days, and leave that level behind us, as there seems to be some resistance at the 240 to 250 level. Probably just a short period of consolidation. | ![]() festario
