As I recall the seawater pipeline is for an area some way north of Cosayach operations.
The part SQM were challenging was a pipeline from there to current operations.

I see Negreiros gets a mention but I thought they had no EIA for Negreiros, they withdrew the application, but were obviously producing there with illegal water extraction.

It will be good to see Cosayach playing with a straight bat and suffering the same costs that others face.

I have a look.

That's the one SQM tried to block and have appeal. Seawater pumped in is somewhat more expensive than stealing freshwater locally. I'll dig out the flow rate for that one if I can find it.
Reports suggest they were nicking 400 litres per second.

Cosayach's Chile seawater pipeline on track for completion in 2014
By LAURA SYRETT
Published: Monday, 11 August 2014
The iodine miner has been in the spotlight this year over its use of water to support mining operations in the high altitude desert region of northeast Chile, but the company has told IM that its issues related to water access will soon be solved when its new seawater pipleline comes into operation later this year.

Chilean miner Cosayach has said that its project to build a seawater pipeline that will supply its iodine operations at Negreiros, Tarapaca, in northern Chile is on track for completion by the end of this year. The company's water strategy came under scrutiny in May after it was reported that...

Irish bars are in Ireland. In Boston you have Irish themed bars, they're only ever Bostonian, by definition.

Ps inclined to agree on short closing ...
Price stubbornly around 60 p with someone picking up - alternatively institution buying a stake but I think they will come in when the production seems stable or on the back of news

Mr B
I understand a fund somewhere took a punt on a short on the lows, then 3 MMs sold a million between them down to zero taking it to mid 40's, their tank was on empty for selling and it bounced.

I personally have some suspicions over the action to try and get the price down 'for a mate' to close with not too much egg on their face.

I also believe another supply barrel, is going to need some tapping and shaking shortly but it will be empty.

Some think such talk is BS, I think it is more likely than genuine trading having picked up so much from others in the market.

I just looked as it's a useful site to see who is and isn't at IOF. Prompted by the Bog exchange this morning and recalling they would slim down employees.

The 'looked at' 10 has always been either IOF other employees or some others in Oil and Gas, chemicals or just mates I suppose.

Toyota Tsusho are a significant threat to SQM with their US production and Algorta Norte link.

To find 3 'looked at' in the same as an IOF employee link can be no coincidence.

The Merck Japan guy also appears under the IOF employees who is the business sales manager.

David Lenigas quotes that on occasions he learns things he didn't know about his companies and sectors, from research by retail investors.

The internet is great, but many funds hate it as us 'mushrooms' have learned ways to not only get info, but to get ahead, and then share it publicly.

Thanks to Leggit we learned about the water hearing.

Mr Big

I have been tracking Sirocco mining (now RB) for a long time, and called it a short, it has done nothing but drop and the forecast actions happened ( Suspension of the ALP)

RB are in serious trouble with cash, they need a bail out yesterday, and warn they could suspend operations etc. They claimed battery grade achieved weeks back, but then claimed only technical grade recently, with immediate cash flow problems. Over $200 mill debt.

One to watch should they get funding and get to commercial battery grade. The technical grade delivered now to Tewoo was paid for a long time back with a $5 mill up front payment, RB spent that. They owe them 1000mt and have not got to 55mt per week yet it seems, and not battery grade.

Results 14th August and this week could be crunch week re funding or not.

There is a rumour their iodine is not up to scratch. I emailed them and they deny it saying all is fine. But then they released news re battery grade production weeks back, but then rns again saying technical grade. That was post Tewoo rejecting the battery grade.

Many of Sirocco's news didn't smell right and it was discussed in length on here over the last few years. So far we haven't put a foot wrong re Sirocco.
