03/6/2014 13:54 | not as cheap as 40p! | mister big
03/6/2014 13:50 | awol - no advice intended (but they are still very cheap, lol) | orslega
03/6/2014 13:47 | For the sake of been appropriate and correct when signing off on posts could someone please tell what 'NAI' means?? | awolagain
03/6/2014 13:44 | Excellent news today. Another 7 months of consistent production numbers and efficiency tweakings should IMHO significantly raise the company's profile as a serious international iodine competitor and smash the conservative target figure which was set by design, no doubt. Quite a turn-around - amazing what certain individuals can achieve in such a short time! Well done team! | senden11
03/6/2014 13:41 | Wait for St Leger Day? Where have I heard that before? It may well prove to be that timescale though. | joestalin
03/6/2014 13:37 | Sell on news brigade... slightly disappointing but not unexpected... just wait a week or two for stability... then watch what happens by September as more excellent progress is made hopefully...NAI | cyberbub
03/6/2014 13:24 | Good rns agree but not very positive on the share price! guess I was expecting the morning rise to hold.. GLA | wisteria2
03/6/2014 12:35 | SG cheers for the link. | bogg1e
03/6/2014 12:34 | The more I read this RNS, the more I see how well articulated it is. It's not only the record iodine production. There is a really impressive focus on the bottom line, the company is clearly looking at current costs closely for maximum efficiency, but they also have a new Purchase Order system that will ensure proper cost control going forward. The best thing is that there is a way to go to maximise production from these four plants. They say IO2 have further improvement, IO3 is disrupted, IO4 had debris issues and did not meet targets. Great to hear they discuss the issues, the production figure from these four plants can improve further, not just with fracking disruption subsiding, but IO4 should show better production this month. Then we have a step jump in production when IO5 and IO6 come online, IO6 might even beat IO5 to the post. Lastly, the production of iodine is being consumed by the Chemical side and it is also experiencing good demand for it's products. Terrific RNS, sets us up well for a cracking AGM. | che7win
03/6/2014 12:33 | 1600mt sounds ambitious to me, but comfortably over 1000mt seems relatively easily achievable when IO7 and mobiles are deployed...I said a few weeks ago that I could see us back to previous share price highs by late 2015 *if* management deliver on their promise... today's RNS strongly supports that progress...GLA NAI | cyberbub
03/6/2014 12:21 | Impressive, when one considers that io1 is a low producer anyway, and io2,3,and 4 are still stuttering, and ios 5 & 6 to come. When all the issues are resolved it would seem that the plants are capable of 2.5 - 3 tons per day combined. Add in three portable units to come and next year we could exit at 1600mt plus (exit rate for 2015). What that should do to the share price won't break my heart! | bobbyshilling
03/6/2014 12:08 | In the interest of supporting IOF efficiencies can anyone attending the AGM please bring a flask and pack of biscuits of your choice (I'll bring custard creams). The after AGM, beer and dinner venue has been changed due to unforseen circumstances(George and Gary numpty era), to the nearest Mcdonalds for a 99p burger and choccy milkshake. In the interest of personal welfare, please make sure your cardboard box and sleeping bag, is put in a cool dry secure area before making the journey. For those struggling to pay for the burger, I will bring a guitar, hopefully one of you has a plastic cup, or suitable cap. Disclaimer I found the custard creams out of date in a skip, so eat them at your own risk, Was saving them for a special event. | superg1
03/6/2014 11:35 | Bogg1e 3 Jun'14 sg, you mentioned that the water hearing had not been posted on a hearing waiting list. Do you have a link to it please? Tia. Bogg1e Good timing I have just been spend time on that and spotted an easy way to monitor it. The difficult way was to try and guess what surname or other name it would get listed under (too much like hard work) However on the Montana court list they record all the hearings booked. I have just noticed they used numbers like 40J etc before surnames, then elsewhere 76F, 43D etc etc. It would seem that is the start code of water right applications, and the number probably represents a county in Montana. I have cross-checked that with surnames on existing rights and it seems to fit. IOF's application starts 40S. The search facility finds cases going on today and throughout the year for 40J. For 40S nothing comes up. So I suggest the hearing date is not yet fixed. We'll probably know before Mr Market does. I'm happy to have that issue tucked out of the way for now. June looks pretty full (calender view), July has some gaps. | superg1
03/6/2014 11:32 | Crosseyed, I agree, additional derivative sales would be a bonus. Not only are IOF producing at a very competitive cost, but there is the value added derivative side. This is the beauty about IOF, it is a vertical integrated company. The chemical side can purchase low cost iodine and should be able to make good margins, or increase market share. | rogerbridge
03/6/2014 11:18 | gadolinium, Re inventory, I don't think I can claim the credit for that! I wasn't even the first to comment on it :] Regarding the possible elimination of a chemical in the IOsorb process... "Early this month, IO#1 will be subjected to a test that could potentially eliminate a certain chemical, resulting in additional savings. If successfully tested, the elimination of this chemical could result in savings of circa $4,000 a day through IO#1-IO#6 when combined." As already suggested, that is equivalent to about $1.2 million pa just on 6 plants. That would seem to be a big proportion of the chemicals required in total, presumably in the extraction process from the brine. c | crosseyed
03/6/2014 11:10 | sg, you mentioned that the water hearing had not been posted on a hearing waiting list. Do you have a link to it please? Tia. | bogg1e
03/6/2014 11:08 | Wow that's more like it! 40.5mt, with still more to come from plants 3 & 4 and more optimisation potential to come from IOF#2 is impressive and just highlights Iofina's potential. Opex and Sales also moving in the right direction too and not long to wait now for plants 5 and 6 and increased brine supply post fracking. Well done Iofina. | bobsworth
03/6/2014 11:07 | sg, fair play, ive been googling around cosayach and its very hard to find relevant, up to date, detailed info in English. | bogg1e
03/6/2014 11:06 | The comments below from Lance appear to be addressing the concerns expressed by crosseyed on inventory levels of raw materials and finished product at Iofina Chemical. I interpret 'products' as being chemical derivatives rather than raw iodine. "The Company's focus to reduce supply chain operational expenditure through all areas of operation is being reflected in considerable savings on a daily basis." "The iodine market continues to be challenging, but the Company is pleased to be at low level inventory levels compared to other iodine producers. The Company had near record sales for the month which demonstrates good demand for our products." Somebody asked if I could comment on the nature of the reduced chemical input to the Iosorb plants. The short answer is no, I can only speculate and that would not be useful. Excellent RNS, Lance and Jeff are really getting a grip on things. | gadolinium
03/6/2014 11:05 | As already commented here, the surprise level of 40.5mT from four producing IOsorb plants with two of those dealing with brine shortage and a technical problem, production from July with six plants operational should comfortably attain 60 mT/month or more. Presumably the re-cycling of liquids is still ongoing, indicated though not confirmed at an average of 5 mT/month, aggregating to 65 mT/month of raw idoine supply from July. As I understand it, the single-shift capacity of the IOChem facility in producing derivatives is 30 mT/month. So there will be an extra 35 mT/month of raw iodine to deal with. It has been stated that some raw iodine is being sold direct. That could already be in progress as the inventory build-up of raw iodine at year-end 2013 was high, maybe 90 mT according to my estimate. But there also lies the possibility of another strategy that has already been hinted at on the Iofina website: increasing the derivatives production capacity which can in the first instance be achieved at little or no extra capital cost by adding another shift bringing production capacity up to 60 mT/month. That might happen sooner rather than later, providing that there is a market for the additional products. c | crosseyed
03/6/2014 10:58 | Rug Just a quick idea. Can you do your google earth stuff and see if the job centre queue has changed in length in the Tamarugal area in Chile. I'm still trying to nail down the Cosayach stuff. Each person requiring 2 foot of space I reckon it will be about 300 meters long, if that helps. | superg1
03/6/2014 10:33 | SG I am told they will have an attendee list, you will need to register and take photo ID. If you broker/bank holds your shares on account just contact them and they will inform the registrar you are attending. | phsycho
03/6/2014 10:19 | On the shonny issue, where is he ??. I have noted since the GKP Chris Holden Troll supreme post was made, shonny hasn't posted anywhere. stockonomist listed as Holden (among dozens of others) by the folks that have id'd him, has posted here. I did note one avatar starting shiny too. Just thought I'd mention it. Are you there Shonny or just another Holden avatar, paying multiple subscriptions for blue access would be no problem for Holden. IOF don't ask for share certs for the AGM, do pop along. | superg1
03/6/2014 10:12 | Mr B has put his money in and good luck to the man. He is no altruist but it certainly helped Iofina and shareholders. | phoenixs
03/6/2014 09:41 | Bob Alan 3 Jun'14 - My conern is the rise in share price prior to these excellent results. Bob there are many aspects to IOF, and I think there is more to this rise than production updates. The Cosayach isn't the catalyst either imo, the strong buying started pre that being known. There is believed to have been a strong buyer since the early 40's. Mr Big made plenty of comments about the way he thought the company would go, and when the cash issue came up, he went quiet and ended up involved in that note. Then popped on here post event. He declared buying plenty and that came up in an rns as a holdings disclosure. WEEK 2 to 3 May .... 45 posts made. Since 21st May 1 post on 29th, silence since. Very active in the 40's, the price mysteriously took off and silence since (very unusual). Guessing here, but based on normal behaviour, and past experience on here, is Mr B now on an inside track an hence can't post. Pure speculation but where is the enthusiasm now as he is being proved right. | superg1 |
