rexmartel: TW is a shallow feeder who cherry picks and distorts/implies as you have noticed. Specialises in scare stories which only have to be 20% true to have an effect.

edit sincerely hope he has believed his own words, shorted and suffered. To-day' rise will have a component of shorts running for cover imo.

In note 14, under Interest Rate Risk it states "Subsequent to 31 December 2013 the investments were converted to cash."

To me that implies that the $6,198,821 of investments at 31 Dec 2013 are now included in current cash balance of "$2.3m cash balance at the end of the Mar quarter" i.e. end March 2014.

I'll be interested to learn what Iofina's response is to those who have emailed on this subject, above is how I first interpreted it this morning

Masurenguy; 'news from Montana' could mean a number of things. Could you enlarge please? Water permit news we can discount until June imo. Perhaps Atlantis water (after all we have the new NED on board looking for something to do and delay in permit could be anticipated) or oil/gas? Or iodine brine reroute plans - a bit early for this. Something else?

Rex martello,
I think he is trying to pull the wool over our eyes or simply did not read the gs properly. I hope to get an answer from the company! As mentioned before I shall post here if I do.

Masurenguy,
The fonts you use in your posts play havoc with iphones etc. It winds people up, hence the negativity you have received.

Nothing personal Mausurenguy, but I don't think anyone is interested.

No offence intended.

Great to see positive sentiment returning after a rubbish few days. The fundamentals are still here, although delayed longer than we had hoped. Positive water news from 3rd June hearing will give this another boost IMO

I don't know whether I'm missing something or if TW is trying to pull the wool over our eyes but he seems to be implying that IOF's cash position had reduced from $8,268m at 31/12/13 to $2.3m at 31/3/14. However the end of year figure was made up of $6,198m Investments plus $2,070m Cash whereas the March figure of $2.3m was reported to be Cash only. Is TW trying to fool us or was the March Investments figure really Zero?

with their cash position secure, contrary to what we feared and also to what some rather unpleasant people were saying, the fundamentals of this business are extremely good. About 9-12 months behind what they forecast, but the capital equipment almost all in place and a shaker at the top who will ensure that people do their job will I believe result on very good returns over the next 6-12 months.

Same here BR, those that added at the bottom well done.
If it happened again I still wouldn't risk it.

Freshvoice, when the share price is as volatile as this, you cannot believe the balance of buy vs sell. The figures just dont keep pace. Vast majority buys, obviously

I agree - 50% up and I suspect buying far outweighs sells

nevik,
this is the first positive RNS since last July, it shows that the market was unduly negative on IOF, shareholders were ground down by unnecessary negative news.
For instance, water outcome caused a share crash three times and it's not even our core business!

If the market looks ahead, we have a temporary blip this year on production, but next year brine supply will be much better, 8p EPS and astonishing growth along with a rising raw iodine price makes 100p a target by year end.

The market is realising this is a viable business, IO2 issues sorted now, so it alone should help get above the daily 0.5 MT rate and closer to 1MT + day.

Next quarterly figures will looks good in comparison to Q1 and new plants can be profitable, even on low brines. I would think they might shelve IO5 on for the rest of the year however.

If iodine rises $5 in value, it would add at least 25% to the raw iodine margins at $20 margins, at $30 costs it's a ~50% increase, so a geared play.

Cheap as chips.

I think Lance was right to chuck everything into the kitchen sink for a clean and fresh start.
In doing so hopefully the 18 month slide has finally been Lanced and we are now at a turning point. Taking a longterm view the next 6 months needs to be spent taking no risks, reserving cash and focusing on the essential detail to get everything right before we move on and expand.
With lessons learnt let's hope one key outcome will be that all fixed plants & future ones will have a backup brine source that can be quickly switched on if necessary.
