can there be a hostile taeover? Is 100% of the company listed on the market or just a proportion of the shares - sometimes the case.

Rik,
The share price isn't going to get to a safe zone (£6 plus), even if figures were to be released.

There is a lot of hard graft ahead to roll out another 10-12 plants to reach that price.

Not alway J, as plenty of investors who have invested in the Aim market will tell you! Anyway I have made my point - lets move on.

Rik, it would be crazy to release your producing figures in this industry, except in a general manner. I am afraid it is your impatience and desire that demands to know, the company knows better.

That doesn't wash with me I'm afraid che - if these numbers are so good then release them and the share price will be the protection. We would be naive to believe we are under the radar from competitors so why not show them what we have really got

Riki - "The radar thing" May be boring you, but an early takeover would do us investors no good at all. It's a genuine threat, even if nothing has materialised yet.

The BoD are doing their best to maximise shareholder value by staying independent for as long as possible. This involves giving away as little as possible for as long as possible. We may crave more info, but releasing it would provide help for potential predators.

I'm convinced we're not going to see figures until the FY 2013 figures are published along with the annual report in April/May next year. I'm pleased about that, because it will give the value of my investment another six months or so to grow and mean that when predators do appear they will have to be offering much more than if they had enough data to put together a reasonable bid now.

I'm actually hoping we get beyond September next year before any bid emerges because I think the H1 2014 figures (published in September) will be really spectacular. Time will tell on that one.

Meanwhile, the business is developing nicely. I'm very pleased to be holding and I have every confidence that the BoD could not be a better group of people to entrust my money to. The share price will move eventually to reflect the value here, even if it may do so more slowly than we might like.

As I've been saying for more than a year -

Roll on September 2014!

Rik,
It's not the patent or the leases that protect our competitive position that we need worry about.

It a takeover at this stage on the cheap. We already hear the competition is sniffing around IO#2. I don't want any takeover approaches for another 18 months as we won't be able to fend one off, we will be in play at that stage.

Bobby. Sg implies that io2 is a circa 400+plant, the brine is clearly going in at full capacity, s why the hell can't the company tell us. Hey we are all saying the patent covers us from any competition!! The radar thing is boring me. Is really very simply - let us see the figures and it would be nice to see Lantze put some skin in the game as well.

I feel the reason for yesterdays RNS, instead of waiting a couple of days is another attempt to hide what the are actually able to produce per plant. I would love to have more production data but if that would compromise the company in lease negotiations etc then I feel we have little choice but to be patient. Production numbers or profit will eventually be undeniable at which point the share price will reflect the reality here. Fingers crossed they can get 4 and 5 running this year. GLA

Rikiv, I understand the frustration about no numbers from io2, but don't forget that they did give a guidance of 700 - 1000mt at year end. We can assume that it is just a possibility that io5 and 6 may only be built but not producing so in my opinion the company have covered themselves with figures that they think are achievable. Also there is talk now of io6 being deployed at the same site as io2, and they may have already have been thinking along those lines when 700-1000mt was rns'd, so a slight delay of course, but in the long term works in our favour regarding production. Things change, and they have to address those changes for the longer term in the interest of share holders, (of which many of the board are).

We do have some estimated bpd and ppm's (see recent posts from other contributors), but as it is not from the horse's mouth so to speak, I see what you mean. But then again, that is why the share price is where it is today, and not over £2. I should be surprised if we are not surpassing 3000mt with ease by this time next year. (Don't forget the water too).

On production note what SQM said in their last conference call, they didn't want to discuss numbers, or any intent for the future due to competitive reasons.

Re a question on iodine to SQM

'And exactly why we're going to do that or not is we don't want to make this as public because it will go against us.'

All US production has been confidential for years, nobody declares exactly how much they are doing.

No one other than the companies themselves know how much each other produces.

Sirocco have been the naïve ones in the business by declaring every last kg/ppm and cost per kg to produce it, but yes there needs to be a balance between protecting the business, and telling investors what is being achieved.

IOF will know best what they are trying to protect, but if you are in negotiations on contracts and royalties, it's best not to gloat too much about the potential margins and profits.

We have to consider that IOF are operating right under the noses of Toyota Tsusho, and the less Toyota know about the inner workings of the IOF story right now, the better.

Indeed pigeon1. As a long term holder I am growing concerned about the lack of hard numbers. Lets not forget io2 was commissioned some 9 months ago and still no reliable data about opex/production numbers. Just seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors at the moment and I can see no reason why they can't release these figures. I can see no chance of io3-6 all being complete this year and for me today's rns was a back door way of conveying this. I am not that concerned about minor slippage of a few weeks/months but can someone please tell me what production numbers are and please don't come back with I hear that it may be this - I can only assume that you are being fed figures that are not reliable. Come on Iofina, come out with them. Still holding but need more evidence than the "inner circle"is giving at present!!!

I understand that Sirocco are having problems selling their iodine. It seems that the iodine has Sulphide/sulphate contamination and potential customers are not interested. Maybe they will have to sell it, if they can, at a very low price. Not sure how it could be used though.

And while I've been typing, another great summary rolls out in 10430.

crosseyed:

Sometimes forget about the patent, which is a fantastic achievement and asset to add to the 100s of exclusive contracts that IOF has with all the oil majors. Together these lock out any competition in IOF's backyard for all time.

Meanwhile at this critical point IOF's overseas competitors are all in trouble. JUst scan the thread using SQM and see what comes up ;-)

superg1,

Thanks once again for your help in bringing a "newbie" up to speed.

I have indeed experienced unpleasant posters and am well familiar with the Filter button. I prefer not to get involved in pointless spats. Basically I think many posters are keen to help and I try to do likewise.

In the few days that I have been following your thread I have learnt a great deal.

Many thanks,
c

I asked re that one. Plants are designed for 30k but can do more, yields are anticipated to drop as bpd is increased over the design limit so there will be an optimum limit. from discussions way back I'd put the limit around 10 to 15% on top.

Adding another, and getting both purring at 25k bpd on optimum yields, seems to be a good call to me.

sg: thanks for posts 10414/5 .

'Someone did say Titanium towers are on the way/ arrived. That won't be the io3 ones, so maybe those were intended for io6 and will now go to the io2 site.'

Good news but sounds like a party game :-) Non-IOFers would think we're all mad.

We may have a small disagreement about the towers: believe there are 2 FRPs on order from separate US manufacturers and 1 Ti tower to service I04,5,6 and with customs delays either/both of the FRP towers could overtake the Ti tower.

Where we come back together imo is that whatever arrives will be shuffled and dealt to the best advantage :-).

SG Sorry if you have posted this already but if io2 is overloaded with brine that implies the plant is maxed out - do you have a reasonable guess at what that means volume wise
