29/10/2013 07:31 | I would agree with that SG, it shouldn't take that long inho, if i remember correctly it was 20k bpd that was already in place, that may have increased now. | ![]() noli
29/10/2013 07:26 | Noli I'm just wondering if they will take it to the maximum flow rate then rns. It's different circs now, where staff are already trained having worked at io2. Just my logic, but rather than say 15k bpd and we will increase over the next few weeks, why not just get it up to speed and rns. It may well be worth doing that as in the past io1 had truck issues, and io2 minor bits plus the weather which held up the start up. If they do get it up to speed and io2 is now on full tilt, in Bpd terms of all plants, it would mean a move from around 31k bpd to 70 to 80k bpd. | ![]() superg1
29/10/2013 07:22 | crosseyed Knowing how good you are at working out companies revenue & profits you you may want to take a look at the excellent spreadsheet work that Battery (Bob) has produced for us . They can be sourced by looking up post 979 on the old Iofina BB headed "IOFINA Iodine, gas, water!!, maybe Oil (Bakken)" and clicking on his email link who will then email it to you. | ![]() bobsworth
29/10/2013 07:18 | Thanks che7win for the link. Interesting to note that exports from the USA are on the increase and if this is IOF then they must have established a route to the market for their surplus iodine. They can now fully supply themselves with cheap, quality iodine regardless of the market situation and sell into the market place with the surplus; all seems set fair! | ![]() meadow2
29/10/2013 06:51 | If my understanding is correct from the recent rns, then IO#3 is in production now, they will be tweaking the plant (chemicals) and building up the bpd day by day. From previous rns's it seems to take a month or so. So this plant will be no different than the others. As for the share price drop yesterday, thanks, as it was a nice top opportunity. | ![]() noli

28/10/2013 22:48 | Atlantis water solutions is the name they have given to the water business. However the initial rights they are applying for are not connected to the Atlantis brine source at all, and that's where it can seem complicated but isn't. IOF are just applying for water rights in the same way as anyone else could and that is what they are doing now. The Atlantis brine aquifer is essentially a separate asset that could come into play in the future, if the water bureaus decide that water rights via the normal means are fully appropriated. Then IOF as a water supplier becomes potentially unique in the US never mind the Bakken. IOF some how achieved a water discharge permit to pump cleaned Atlantis water into the Fresno reservoir area. The US fisheries did a rights swap with IOF on that basis. The swap which does not form part of any permit or plan currently, would allow IOF to upgrade existing US fisheries water rights (various locations in ND and Montana)to industrial use. There is no point IOF taking that route when there is still water left to appropriate in the normal way. Once water rights are considered fully appropriated, it seems there is little many operators can do to acquire further supplies. That is where the rights swap could become a valuable asset. | ![]() superg1
28/10/2013 22:15 | superg1, That is a truly generous response to my naive questions. I see that I have much homework to do :} c PS. Just one further question... Should the Atlantis Water Project be considered as essentially a separate venture from the iodine business though with the presumed spin-off benefit of obtaining the raw material, ie extracted brine, for that business ? | ![]() crosseyed
28/10/2013 20:29 | superg1/che7win, As someone who is looking at IOF with a view to investing, I appreciate your forward assessments of production (and revenues) in posts earlier today. Having read through many RNS's, focussing on those relating to operations, production and also the finacial reports, there seems to be a paucity of hard figures about production. If you can spare the time, I would be grateful if you could point me in the direction for further research regarding the following points. - A source for current prices for iodine (though I recognise that is complicated as IOF ultimately sell processed products) ? - Is there any indication of (potential) production of natural gas and also water, and how significant are they in overall contribution ? (I am used to shale oil/gas companies in the US. States usually have their own regulator, eg the Texas RRC, that publish monthly production, but I cannot locate any such authority in Montana where, I believe, IOF have their own gas-producing wells. The RNSs mentioned just one well by name, Eastlee #1, which was their first-drilled, and maybe 12 or more within the Atlantis field, but detail seems to be missing.) - Presumably the rationale for the third-party agreements is to obtain iodine-containing brine from other operators without having to invest in their own wells. Is there any indication of the costs from those sources, say per barrel? Thanks for any help, c | ![]() crosseyed

28/10/2013 19:17 | Maybe eeza, perhaps they want to run the brine through for a week or so while they tweek the automation. | ![]() bogg1e

28/10/2013 18:13 | Have to agree with VMH on this one. According to the chart of dubiousness there was some extra short positions opened today (not much though, prob less than 100k). Looks like it was a last ditch attempt to precipitate a fall before the next RNS comes out. I'm expecting we'll see IO4 commissoned & IO3 numbers combined into a production update RNS rather than each one individually, but even then don't think we've got long to wait. And then of course there's water :) | testuser123

28/10/2013 16:48 | Definition of 'Painting The Tape' A form of market manipulation whereby market players attempt to influence the price of a security by buying and/or selling it among themselves so as to create the appearance of substantial trading activity in the security. Painting the tape is an illegal activity that is prohibited by the Securities and Exchange Commission because it creates an artificial price for a security. The term originated in a bygone era when stock prices were largely transmitted on a "ticker tape." Investopedia explains 'Painting The Tape' Two common objectives among market manipulators of painting the tape are to lure unsuspecting investors into a security, or achieve a high closing price for it. Unusual trading volume in a security may attract investors to it. Cabals of market manipulators who have painted the tape in a security generally expect to make significant profits by offloading their holdings in it - which are usually acquired at much lower prices - to investors unaware of the stock manipulation. These investors are literally left "holding the bag" once the manipulation ceases and the stock declines steeply in price. High closing activity attempts to create an artificial price for a security by boosting its price substantially at market close, since closing prices are widely reported in the media and are closely watched by investors. Since most portfolios and securities are valued on the basis of their closing prices, manipulators use this tactic to achieve a higher market value for their holdings rather than their intrinsic worth. | ![]() monts12
