M & S
Sorry sg but I don't see it.

To me the long term sticky oscillation with three year-long half phases are each made up of 5-6 subsidiary oscillations. The share price point is now closing on the next low probably not far from 470p. It still has one more 8-10 week half cycle to go (upwards) These subsidiary oscillations have repeated with acceptable regularity to signify stability If I were keen on the FTSE sector , which I am not because "elephants don't gallop", I could actually go long on M &S.

My call would be Don't Do It the risk is far too high, but in 10-12 weeks time there could be a more valid opportunity at 520p.

You are wise enough to know that there are no Certainties. Its all about probabilities. I guess that it's 10:1 at least against a successful short now at M & S. However, if the economy were to weaken in the UK or globally, (but that looks improbable) M & S would experience the consequential down draught and the oscillation upstroke would be thereby dampened.

If you must go short find an over priced small or mid cap but that IMO borders on immorality. With the bigger companies its a choice between small wins and losses or a large position with the attendant casino risk.

Go long on XAR if you want the best three month opportunity in the FTSE 350
or on Dart (DTG). The timing is good for both shares but XAR is the more global company with lots of IP and patents

If you use ADVFN basic chart and insert 21 day period RSI over 6 months you will see it has dropped from around 67 to 52 while price continues north. I find this indicator to be a good rule of thumb. This divergence is unusual hence my earlier post.
If you know of another reliable measure I will be glad to hear about it. Cheers

rhwillcol: for isdx to take on so much trade they must have a keenly priced system. Do we know the mechanism? Who sets the bid and offer prices?

ADVN showing the closing 'dive' to 183.5
Only one thing on my mind this weekend - a small insignificant football match at the SOL. Sunderland v Newcastle! Bring it on!
Have a good weekend all.

Try to sell your shares for 187p.
You're talking like a lunatic.
Close was 184.25 - that is what you can sell your shares for - NOT 187p.

Only the Village Idiot values his shares at the closing price - or the Offer.

The chances of news next week must be very high as we approach the end of October.

Should hear latest on IOF#5 & 6 + procurement updates for 7 & 8.

Fingers crossed Iofina's suppliers deliver on time.

Great weekend all.

RSI diverging from price? Are you sure? On my daily chart the last time the 20 RSI did that was back in April, just before the long-term up-trend in IOF cracked!

I once discussed this indicator with it's inventor, Welles Wilder, and although there have been variations on it promoted by others, he recommended using his own version, so you might like to check yours, which seems to be telling a strange story.

Fwiw, it is usual to see an oscillator such as this which diverges from price as a contra indicator - i.e. a rising price with a falling oscillator pattern is considered bearish.
