It doesn't help that management some time back decided that they wouldn't keep the market informed on what is going on within the company. This, of course, leads the market to think that there is no good news. Even if they said they were still on course to produce iodine to the predicted amount would help enormously.

Che - No, not staying out at all. Still in, albeit with a much reduced position. I got clobbered, just like so many others, and decided to reduce because I was concerned about where the market might take the share price

I have never lost faith in the business model on the iodine side. I certainly missed the management incompetence until after it had damaged the value of my holding. I am comfortable with the current management's ability to implement policies which will exploit the competitive advantage inherent in the business model.

I think that the share price is currently at the mercy of the general state of the markets and the absence of company specific news. (Like many, I think they stopped the monthly updates too soon.) I see that as short term but I don't know how long the short term will last! The share price could drift down quite a way if the delay is three weeks or so, and it could take a hit if we have to go to a hearing on the water permit IMO.

I am confident that the permit will be granted and I expect the next set of figures to be good. Medium to long term I am very optimistic about the company's prospects and I am certainly not about to sell out, but I won't be buying more just yet. I'll wait until I see reaction to water news before I add.

I have no idea whether that makes me a ramper or a deramper, and to be honest I don't particularly care, that's just my take on the situation.

My last post was an apparently unsuccessful attempt at levity!

uppompeii,

You have that wonderful way about you that sows the seeds of doubt without ever taking the flack.

For that, I recommend you as one of the finest bears amongst us.

I think they are obviously waiting to be able to give a definite approval for the water before issuing the review statement which though non-core will nevertheless have a big impact on income next year so is very relevant to near term plans.

Heart that someone with a biggish position got caught on a margin.

If they were on track mid November to hit 325 to 350mt, going on averages the had hit over 50 mt by then which is fine.

Up yes water uncertainty has caused a disproportionate affect on the share price

PDTG was good but was always subject to the 45 day objection period.

Besides Iof's own issues the market has been a disaster across just about every sector for some time, even cotton.

Thing is this went to 55p or so on the water news (and some were buying in on that I remember), does anyone realistically see it adding more than a few pence if approved and then not doing as normal and falling back? And each day is seeing the share price decline. If this hadn't been promoted as "non core" I may pay more attention but I'm more interested in the review and the mini's and the roll out of IO# etc, but we're not hearing much.

Thanks for some great insights SG. Begs the question as to whether we'll have two invalid objections and one withdrawn. Seems a fairly good chance. Looking forward to the first quarter with hardening iodine prices, water in place and second half results which show that a scythe has been taken to first half 2014 costs. Not to mention increased iodine production and falling per kilo costs.

I suppose the de-rampers feel very safe as news may not be due until the new year.
Taking an opportunity to scare a few more out of their shares.
However, the tide can turn very quickly, LGO shorted over the last few weeks is over 50% up today on good news and more to come by the look of things.
News on various fronts could come out at any time, the tide could turn very quickly here.
