it would be highly unusual for any business to compare ytd numbers with full year numbers. Standard is to compare like for like.
If I had a hat I'd eat it if it were confirmed they are already 25% up on full year 2013. (I won't eat anyone else's hat :-) )

Re the 25%

They said in early October they has already passed the entire sales for 2013.

2013 sales $18.9 mill and October news said they have surpassed $20 mill.

$20.5 would give around an 8% rise,

In 2013 they did $11.5m in H1 and $7.4m in H2.

In H1 14 they did $13m and we know in the next 3 months they went over $20m, so probable sales in July/Aug/Sept the same as for the entire H2 last year.

So those are the figures but we can only guess at what the 25% means. We don't know if they mean v the entire year end sales or the like-for-like period to OCT 13 v to OCT 14.

I've asked and will share the reply if I get one.

My initial thoughts are like-for-like as they would be over $23.5 mill now.

I am not really sure they are implying there is a mobile in production. Maybe wishful thinking. I agree it would make sense, not convinced it's highly likely though.

So are we expecting a 2014 pre-tax loss of around £1m still? I note IOF haven't commented on this?

The Japanese patent is interesting . Could be a precursor to a deal to licence technology in Japan where there are gas operations with the right formation for iodine - would also be a sign of off take agreements with Japanese users which would be great news and capex funded .

Not sure what you mean by "why the sudden change in expected order?" Bob? They never stated an exact date for new about the growth plan and it makes perfect sense to wait until we have the water decision as that will have a huge impact on the overall group business.

"Iofina is pleased to reiterate that it expects to produce between 325 and 350MT of crystallized iodine in 2014 at its six IOsorb(R) plants". This tends to imply that if, as highly likely, the company has been piloting a mobile, the production from this, a seventh plant, will be a nice little bonus. In keeping with the new policy of not saying that much ahead of the event.

I agree, point one from previous post.
However, 25% + if maintained for the whole year is an extra quarters or mite revenue, totally in line with having met total 2013 revenues by roughly the end of Q3.

Edit: it's probably a bit soon for revenues to be up 25% on full year 2013 imo.

The way the rns has been phrased suggest that revenues are 25% higher than at this time last year. Which is point 1 from previous post.

It says Year to Date. In my mind that means comparing like for like periods. In other words up to October this year compared to up to October last year.
Nice steady as she goes rns.

rhwillcoll - I'm guessing the answer to your question is 2 as it said in the Sept interims.....

"IC is expected to surpass total 2013 revenues through the first
three quarters of 2014."

Superg1--26819It's a pity the RNS this AM didn't contain those facts. The price might not have dropped so much.

"Iofina Chemical continues to perform well utilizing Iofina produced iodine. Year-to-date (YTD) through October, Iofina Chemical derivative sales are up over 25%, even with downward pressure on iodine prices throughout 2014"

Questions:

1) Does this mean sales are up more than 25% relative to Jan-end of Oct 2013
(if so, then great), or

2) Sales are up more than 25% relative to whole of 2013? That would be even
greater.

I presumed from first read that it is 1) above. That would be excellent, not least because it will have been higher volume AND from lower cost base, due to using IOF's in-house iodine production.

ExpatYou miread the rns regarding sales. They are up 25% on the whole of last year's sales by the end of October. That is significant and far from disappointing.

Here is a chart showing the change in oil production in Oklahoma. So clearly there will be a lot more brine now than 2007.

Talk is now that Oklahoma will go past Alaska and put it as the no 3 producing state.

IOF decided to target Oklahoma well before the frack boom started.

Jas

The patent covers 3rd party extraction models in Japan.

Currently no one can employ IOF's business model in the US as they would be breaching IOF's patent.

Ex pat. 3 posts in 15 years not bad eh, and the recent ones trying to latch onto heart's comments. hmmmm

I did check the produced water figures pre frack boom. I suggested just Texas and Oklahoma did over 50% of all US produced water. I was wrong it's 48% :-)

There are many states involved in oil and gas production and just about half of all produced water is in those 2 states. They are also the 2 states with the highest iodine concentrations.

If they stopped fracking overnight over 6 million barrels per day would continue to be pumped into SWDs in Oklahoma. The figure is probably higher as it doesn't include the recent activity.

All looks stable - I'm encouraged by the new on chemical division . Demand for these products remain strong and margins won't be affected too much by lower iodine prices. At the moment we use all our own production.
Good stuff
