Was today the day after which no other party can make a competing offer? Don't really understand the takeover rules. Help?

We don't know date yet (I think) and it depends on what others do too as total mix of cash & shares across all needs to be per the offer.Expect it to be December or January though

Am I correct in thinking that we do not have to make the election until January '14?

SU can be held under ISA rulesI am with iweb and didn't ask, but did get a quote for a trade so assume they are OK with itYou can also elect to have full payment im cash with no SU shares

bakero,

Thanks for that, concentrated the mind, now works.

Interested to see your comment that you are able to hold Schneider in an ISA. I'm being told that it's OK to hold in a SIPP but not an ISA. Might I ask who you have your ISA with? I am with Barclays and at the moment they are saying no in an ISA.
Thanks.

Hi donkeystone,

It is pretty much as you describe.

"Under the offer Invensys shareholders will get 0.025955 New Schneider Electric shares and 372 pence in cash"

So multiply your current shareholding by £3.72 (cash) + (0.025955 * SU share price * EUR to GBP conversion rate)

I'm away at the moment so can't check my current calculation of that easily, but since the offer have reckoned we are trading around 2.5% - 3.0% under what the offer is worth.

Not sure what your (or my for that matter) broker charges for selling SU though or conversion rate they will apply (can be held in ISA though at least)

If some kind soul has a spare moment could they give me the algebra/excel formula that calculates the fluctuating value of the Schneider offer per existing Invensys share?

Schneider share price x no of shares x euro or whatever it is plus cash??

I can't make it work

Thanks

SU is up, so current takeover offer is worth about 5.19 a share

I've sold about half in two trades to get into other things, should sell and move on really, but after 10 years here feel the need to see it through to the end

Offer is equivalent to about £5.01 at the moment, so about 2.5% to be made from holding for 4 months - not as great as might initially think (and assuming nothing goes wrong...or no rival offer emerges of course)
