you missed the point, Vodafone made an offical approach to CWW announced before the Nomura list was published, there has been no announcment of an approach to ISYS. T/O rumours have been surrounding ISYS for many years and for one reason or another the major players have decided its not worth the effort - it would have happened by now.

hvs. cash flow this year was much better than last years first half. in fact it was a £72 mill turn around. and the second half will probably be much stronger if the brokers forecasts are met.

any view on what Invensys Rail could be worth to someone like Emerson? could it be worth £2.5 billion?

You would think so, but it needs the crowd to arrive...

Or maybe we could add a banking arm and be like Barc and get lots of fines, that should push up the price...

I hope you do too.
And I hope the excitement of a takeover bid, when it happens, doesn't induce an early demise - now that would be bad luck!!

i would not be surprised if the speculation starts again soon. they may want to move while the shareprice is still low and before second half results which are stronger

Positive comment by Tempus in today's Times ending with "The Company ,I believe, will one day be taken over, which is why it is on my list of tips for the year. But this will probably not happen before the year end."

Our view: Invensys reported a positive set of numbers for the first half despite global macro-economic headwinds threatening to hamper performance. The Invensys Operations Management division saw robust growth during the period, and is likely to continue its strong performance in the second half underpinned by its large order book and significant exposure to emerging markets, many of which are less affected by the current macro-economic environment. Also, almost half of Invensys Controls' sales cater to the US housing market, which, after years of decline, is seeing volumes recover strongly. Furthermore, the company is well positioned to leverage the strong demand in automation and industrial software, which in turn is driven by growing demand for energy in emerging markets such as China, Brazil, India and the Middle East. The management is confident of building on its first half performance and expects to improve overall performance for the year as a whole. Given Invensys' healthy order book, strong balance sheet, and diversity of its industry and geographic end markets, we have a positive outlook on the company and assign a Buy rating to the stock.

when/if they decide to replace Riddett as CEO of rail this may be a worhtwhile investment IMHO. What was the star performing division has turned lack lustre since his appointment.
