13/11/2012 16:55 | It's like a choice between an accelerator and a brake. If the analsysts are right and they have "excess" cash they can do a few things with it. As I see it a chunkier than necessary payment into the pension fund is a green light/come on to anyone interested in making a bid, an accelerator from my point of view. Distribution to shareholders or a share buy back is "We think we're doing OK and would like to carry on, on our own, for now thank you very much" a brake. Sooner or later this co gets swallowed up. I used to sign off:- As ever £4.40 ttfn sounds a bit daft at the moment but you never know. | donkeystone
13/11/2012 14:09 | wonder if there will be a share buyback? Almost half of Invensys Controls' sales lever the business to US housing, where, after seven years of decline, volumes are recovering strongly. We expect the group's overall cash generation to improve next year and calculate that, unless dividends are raised, it will have over a fifth of its market capitalisation in cash by 2013/14 and a net cash position even including pensions. The last time Invensys reached net cash including pensions was in 2008/09 when it resumed its dividends: we see it as a likely trigger again and think the board will raise cash distribution and double the payout ratio to around 40% of 2013/14 earnings per share. In our bull case, Invensys undertakes a £360m buy-back to use up its cash at bank. | rumpelstiltskin2
12/11/2012 15:23 | personally would not like them to hedge or sell the pension fund now, just let it run. with gilts at these low yields - all likelhood at or near the top of the gilt market. | rumpelstiltskin2

12/11/2012 12:49 | Crossrail awards signalling contract to Siemens-Invensys consortium 12 Nov 2012 ⋅ by Marc Johnson ⋅ in Rail News, Rail Projects ⋅ 0 Comments Crossrail has awarded the signalling system contract for the £14.8 billion network's central section to a consortium comprising Siemens and Invensys Rail Limited. The contract, which is estimated to be worth about £50 million, covers the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a train control system for Crossrail's central section. The new system will be installed between Portobello Junction on the Great Western Main Line, Pudding Mill Lane Junction on the Great Eastern Main Line and Abbey Wood. Under the terms of the contract Siemens has also committed to creating around 20 apprenticeships and new jobs for unemployed people around Greater London and along the Crossrail route Andrew Wolstenholme, Crossrail's chief executive, said: "Crossrail is now in a position to award the main signalling contract which is the first of our railway systems contracts. Crossrail will operate up to 24 trains per hour during the peak between Whitechapel and Paddington. "The new signalling system will incorporate Automatic Train Operation to support the delivery of a high-frequency metro service and will also be capable of enhancement to 30 trains per hour through the central section at a later date." | rumpelstiltskin2
12/11/2012 12:48 | Technology group Invensys climbs on hopes of raised dividend or cash return to shareholdersAnalysts say company could afford to pay out more to investors next year as cash generation grows Share Tweet this inShare.0Email Invensys is likely to boost its dividend payout and could even consider a cash return to investors, according to analysts at Nomura. The bank has begun coverage of the rail equipment and controls group with a buy rating and a target price of 330p, both on the outlook for its business and the prospect of it becoming cash rich. Analyst Juho Lahdenpera said: Almost half of Invensys Controls' sales lever the business to US housing, where, after seven years of decline, volumes are recovering strongly. We expect the group's overall cash generation to improve next year and calculate that, unless dividends are raised, it will have over a fifth of its market capitalisation in cash by 2013/14 and a net cash position even including pensions. In our bull case, Invensys undertakes a £360m buy-back to use up its cash at bank. The positive comments have lifted Invensys shares by 4.2p to 238.6p. | rumpelstiltskin2

31/10/2012 08:51 | HighTech As a long suffering holder, I can only agree that profit warnings are the norm for this company. In fact I would worry if I did not issue one on a regular basis as the board would actually be managing the business effectively! red | redartbmud
30/10/2012 16:01 | The flooding in New York subway is, unfortunately, good for the companies in the field. We should see 300p by the end of year, even with a new profit warning. | hightech
