"Best to arrive on the battlefield to bayonet the wounded :)"

What if the other side have already surrendered without you knowing...?

That's fine, but don't pretend you have special knowledge, or you're clever...

"Because, all the fuss over brexit will have cleared, and it will be worth far more, perhaps?"Quite right, zcap. In fact, with the likely precautionary fiscal and monetary stimulus injected to get the consumer through, sentiment will likely change even before brexit happens. I confidently predict that 3 years from now the whiners will be unhappy about something else (such is their nature), another basket case of shorters will have been cleared out, and few will care what all the fuss was about. ATB :)

Agree. Much value to be found in the likes. But ditto, some just are not that.

Not really UK retail REITs are not trading at more of a discount than European or US retail focused REITs

Intu doesn't operate on the High Street? Nobody seems to care about that on the short side... its all retail to them.

Retailers now seeking rent discounts: Shoe Zone RNS this morning.

"As has been widely publicised, the UK High Street is currently facing a challenging environment in which to operate. The pressure on the retail property market has enabled Shoe Zone to achieve an average 23.5% fall in rents on renewal and average outstanding lease length of only two years. As a consequence of this and the tough freehold property market, our freehold assets had to be revalued to represent fair value and give us future flexibility.

Can't see anyone wanting to take INTU over at the moment with the high street struggling, and most of the Europe on the edge of recession. Why buy now when the share price is likely to be much lower in 6 months time or you can rake over the bones and strike a deal with the auditors when it all goes to sh@t.

Takeover rumours are a bit desperate IMHO. You should never buy shares on rumours alone, the company needs to be viable. You need to make your own mind up whether you think it is. If you think it is buy ! If not avoid.

FT have confirmed it's just idle speculation from the punters.
