American Airlines rose 2.1 per cent, Delta Air Lines flew up 2.6 per cent, Southwest Airlines added 3.6 per cent and United Continental Holidays added 2.7 per cent at the close of trading last night. On Tuesday, Berkshire disclosed a $9.3bn (£7.5bn) holding in the industry and has spent more than $2.1bn each on shares of four carriers. Berkshire spent $2.15bn on 43.2m shares of Southwest, upped its stake in Delta by 60m shares and increased its position in American Airlines too.
