If our vaccination program has been so successful, why is it that over 129,000 UK people died and other countries infection rates are now lower than ours ?

Try and look on the bright side......high oil price will have little impact on profits as they are not burning too much fuel at present.

Oil heading rapidly towards 80 bucks a barrel. Perfect storm, UK dipsxxt government has destroyed its own airlines and now outside negatives going to hit. Really do wonder where the U.K. airlines will be in autumn, european and US carriers in much better shape now and gagging to steal the biz. Boris bunter and the brexit loonies, what a success.

Variants reported at the moment are just to scare people into having jabs. It's the ones later, after pandemic, that might be of concern or require a response

I do feel there is an agenda by government It is sacrificing and exploiting airlines to meet itI am trying to figure out what it is Climate change , net zero targets ?Or force UK ppl to travel and spend within the UK so the economy will thrive The latter is a good idea and why not while Covid is still a global problem

jailbird....I understand the complexities but moving aircraft to other bases or hubs is not that difficult. Look at EZJ who have already done it.

Airlines need to put substantial pressure on BoJo to do something but to date BA hasn't because it has suited their 'fire and rehire' purposes.

Now they recognise imminent change is needed and they cannot rely on UK.GOV to deliver as BoJo constantly over promises and under delivers. He always disappoints.

BA have now furloughed IFCE managers.

M1,

it is a mess

You cannot simply just shift bases, as Covid is all of the place globally

Fly one day , off another day, the problem to flying is not just limited to UK

and yes BA's hub is LHR, UK

But never say never..particularly with the outsourcing in place and HQ possibly may be sold off.

I do not understand why BA has not migrated to overseas bases, unless it is just to retain the British Flag.

From a business perspective, IF UK.GOV will not allow you to fly from the UK, it makes sense to transition to countries that will allow you to fly.

St Sage - if it is killing pilots what will happen to passengers? The story will get out when it suits them and that will be the end of aviation for the masses. Private jets will have the skies to themselves. Just one small part of the plan

Yep, not long to wait before airlines etc get a huge boost, cheap as chips added another 5k @ 195p earlier, stay patient..right back to being lazy on an idyllic Greek Island but getting more tourists now, mostly European a few more Brits

We all know when the skies open for holidaymakers the share price will take off with them. So buckle up and sit tight we might have some turbulence ahead but it will be all over soon.
