Interesting as the shares have been hit harder today than Air France themselves.

Maybe get a rebound later in the week then, nearly 10% fall in two days!

Want 340 area.

IAG (OW, PT 500p) has seen some demand weakness, but maintained guidance. IAG flagged some yield weakness in its June traffic statistics last Thursday. Into July, the company has seen a broad demand softness across all markets (most pronounced in outbound Latin America – potential World Cup issues), but does not believe this is related to overcapacity, given the pricing pressure was apparent across markets with both tight, and less-tight, supply.

Fundamentally, IAG benefits because 70% of the British Airways customer base (and probably a much greater proportion of revenues) is direct to/from London, meaning it has significantly lower exposure to transfer traffic, and hence lower exposure to competition from rival hubs such as Frankfurt and Munich. By contrast, AF-KLM is ~50% connecting traffic at its Paris CDG hub, and ~65% at Amsterdam. IAG also has lower Cargo content than many of its competitors, given it exited the full freighter business earlier this year.

IAG will report H1 results on Friday 1st August: we continue to see it as more immune to the overcapacity issues being felt in the Continent, although we would expect sentiment to weigh on the stock in the short term. It is our preferred name on a 12-month view.

2NGH - still on the dark side with BP, but with cfd's. Quite a big position there, trade is in the money, but I've got a limit order to close at 506.
Forex still paying the rent. This is my only long at the moment. Been here two days. Bought EZJ when it got hammered last week. Got out on the big spike. Looking for the same thing here.

Only worrying thing is we have had the whole of yesterday's volume in the first hour today so a lot of support behind the falls.

Looking for 340 area before buying, thought about it at 343.

Bought some yesterday, and some more today right on the open. The lower it goes, the more I'll add. This is just in play at the moment. This is the only share I'm in at the moment on my sb account, so got a lot of magin, and a great deal of time.

Barclays Capital on European Airlines

The buffeting some of the airline stocks have received, which has led to a sector-wide re-rating, is undeserved, according to Barclays.

Tailwinds have included the rising price of crude oil and "capacity concerns" (i.e. being able to fill the plane).

However, the bank thinks these may have been overdone – at least for top picks IAG [LON:IAG], the owner of British Airways and Iberia, and Ryanair.

It rates both 'overweight' with price targets of £5 and €8.60, respectively
