25/11/2013 12:12 | Few details from that Jefferies note: "IAG Awaiting the next catalyst. IAG shares have almost doubled YTD as the group has shown meaningful, simultaneous, progress at BA, Iberia and Vueling. As a result, the upgrade of 2015 targets was not wholly surprising. We raise our 2015 operating profit/EPS estimates to 1.6bn/50c respectively. The recent investor day was instructive, giving additional detail on the operational initiatives at each of the businesses. "We expect the next catalyst to come from Iberia restructuring progress. In the meantime, the shares could pause for breath. Our PT moves up to 410p. "Valuation/Risks: As the high growth rates at easyJet and Ryanair taper, so attention turns to self-help opportunities, and valuation, where we prefer to look at cash ROIC relative to EV/IC (lease-adjusted). "Our analysis shows the market rewards higher returning companies with higher valuations, which is an important feature of all our Buy ratings. Risks: economic environment, aircraft funding, high & volatile fuel and FX, event shocks, increased industry capacity, industrial action, regulatory change, tax." | philanderer

24/11/2013 16:47 | Fifteen airlines have been warned about the risk of ice forming on Boeing's new 747-8 and 787 Dreamliner planes. The Boeing 747-8 series and the new 787 Dreamliner are the only types of aircraft affected by the high-altitude icing issue. The new warning was given to airlines including Lufthansa, United Airlines and Japan Airlines. It says aircraft with the affected engines - GE's GEnx - must not be flown within 50 nautical miles of thunderstorms that may contain ice crystals. As a result, Japan Airlines (JAL) has decided to withdraw Dreamliners from service on the Tokyo-Delhi and Tokyo-Singapore routes. .....British Airways use Rolls Royce engines on their Dreamliners. They are not affected by the warning, says the BBC's Ben Geoghegan. | philanderer

21/11/2013 17:14 | Ooops! - A Boeing 747 Dreamlifter cargo plane will attempt to take off from a minor airport in Kansas after it landed there by mistake. The giant cargo jet was heading for McConnell air force base in Wichita but instead touched down at nearby Colonel James Jabara airport. Airport officials believe the plane will be able to depart despite the much shorter runway at Jabara. An attempt is scheduled for noon local time (18:00 GMT) on Thursday. The aircraft normally needs a runway of 2,780m (9,119ft) to get airborne at maximum weight; Jabara's runway is only 1,860m long. | skinny
