Personally, I do not see how anyone knows the true state of any company until they have released at least their 2 next quarterly updates. Until then you won't really know what's still to come out the system. Not just here, every company.

IAG while planes are not flying will be conserving cash outlay, and better positioned then a lot of airlines around the world.
One thing I am sure once the ban gets lifted then you are going to see a scenario of demand exceeding supply in the cheapest classes.

I assume companies like L3? will be very busy offering flight simulation to pilots over the coming months. There are rules I believe if you have large gaps between flights?

I guess it's not really just the airlines, I would have thought there must be 5 to 10 times (maybe much more?) the number of jobs involved in the ancillary services surrounding the airlines.
Airport staff, servicing, onboard food, etc

IAG cannot be nationalised as it is not British owned.the Spanish owners would love it if the British govt provided some sort of stimulus but this will not happen.

Airline sp's will be allowed to tank, nationalised before the UK/SPAIN Gov pump cash in, take a stake. That way no compensation will have to be paid to shareholders.

1p cometh in the next few weeks.

I own the ftse index fund, so I do down shares in theory. I guess I'm allowed to post now.

I haven't seen Boris guarantee the liabilities of companies, Macaron did it today. Even Trump has said he would save the airlines. But all this will be done when shareholder value has been destroyed. History always repeats itself.

Isn't this the natural course of a company in distress - no cash flow - still have to service debts - company in distress - now viewed as a credit risk - credit downgrade - have to pay higher rate for finance - compounding interest is a vicious cycle (I have not seen the mention of airline rescue / bailout as of yet). It not as if we have not known about this.

I think we all forget that airlines are Cyclical stocks,ie they crash when the credit cycle is over. This cycle will be deleveraving hard once confidence evaporates. If you can't see this unfolding, that's too bad.

Smithy......thanks. I have had the latest about crew restrictions overseas and note that there are still some 'gateway' flights to the USA.
Singapore & Hong Kong still available I think.

Thanks Smithy...IAG have a substantial cargo operation that is very profitable and will continue to operate during this crisis.
There appears to be no bans on cargo flights.

A couple of news articles relevant to IAG:

Airline is picking up more cargo. WW comments that if it were not for airspace closure and passenger bans, demand would support much higher flying rates. Cargo prices have shot up massively due to the lack of passenger flights with spare hold capacity. Also, JIT requirement has increased due to disrupted supply chains, further increasing demand.

Also, employment costs will be reviewed in days, not weeks. All areas of BA have been notified of potential redundancy action if wage reduction measures are not negotiated with the workforce. Virgin have committed to 8 weeks unpaid spread over the next 6 months.

it might be more helpful.

If you don't own any IAG shares, you really aren't helping anyone or anything.
