Using options going short now, whilst closing the long calls. I don't expect this rise to last more than a few weeks.I expect IAG to be below 600 by August. Pure guess -- no research done.

International Consolidated Airlines Group was among the biggest winners after its Spanish airline Iberia bought 20 new Airbus planes, to be used for short and medium-length flights. They will be delivered between 2018 and 2021.

IAG has reportedly negotiated a significant discount for the craft from their catalogue value of £1.4 billion. Shares rose 3.9 per cent, or 23.5p, to 630p.

A week before the unprecedented 16-day strike by some British Airways cabin crew based at Heathrow, the Unite union is bidding to block a plan to fly passengers in aircraft grounded by the Middle East airspace row.

BA plans to draft in nine Airbus A320 and A321 jets from Qatar Airways to cover for the Mixed Fleet strike, which is planned for 1-16 July. The Gulf carrier has plenty of spare aircraft, because its short-haul routes to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other destinations have been grounded as part of a geo-political row.

During previous bouts of industrial action, British Airways has paid other airlines, including Titan and Thomson, to cover for strike-hit flights. The practice is known as wet-leasing, with pilots and crew bought in along with the planes.

"British Airways technology chaos will cost £80m"

IMO if they can get away with only £80 million they will be very lucky - 75,000 passengers - Not much more than £1,000 per head - As was basically theeir fault - all be it by an outside contractor then probabilty of Clas Action could still be high with claim for consequential damages - Remember a lot of Yanks were involed and they tend to call in legal at the eariest chance. (all imo & dyor etc)

Not sure if mentioned before by anyone on here but if the "engineer" in question happens to work for a contractor then surely the claims will be recouped against that engineers company's insurance - ie public liability insurance etc - just a thought
