20/8/2009 14:24 | Bought 1500 today sub £5; irony is thought my broker had already bought them a few weeks ago at c£5.50 so maybe got timing right for a change, i think so. | philo124
18/8/2009 10:58 | Looks oversold now, down to the same level as the last dividend drop (489). I guess the directors selling last week has something to do with it. Hopefully the Harbinger bid will come soon and those directors will be kicking themselves for selling out at a lower price than the bid. | enami
06/8/2009 10:23 | indeed. Looking closely at the figures were not for depreciation on some recent satellites , EBITDA would have risen roughly 15% not 10.5%?:- +------------------- | (US$ in millions) | 2009 | 2008 | Increase/ | | | Half | Half |(decrease) | | | year | year | | | |(unaudited) |(unaudited) | | +------------------- | Profit for the period | 73.9 | 58.9 | 25.5% | +------------------- | Add back: | | | | +------------------- | Income tax expense | 23.1 | 28.9 | (20.1%) | +------------------- | Net interest payable | 68.2 | 68.5 | (0.4%) | +------------------- | Depreciation and amortisation | 116.5 | 107.8 | 8.1% | +------------------- | Share of results of associates | (0.4) | (0.5) | (20.0%) | +------------------- | Gain on disposal of fixed assets | (1.5) | - | - | +------------------- | Goodwill adjustment | 10.1 | - | - | +------------------- | EBITDA | 289.9 | 263.6 | 10.0% | +------------------- | EBITDA margin % | 57.0% | 54.4% | | +------------------- Depreciation and amortisation During the half year ended 30 June 2009, depreciation and amortisation was US$116.5m, an increase of US$8.7m, or 8.1%, compared with the half year ended 30 June 2008. The increase is predominantly due to depreciation on the third Inmarsat-4 satellite and Inmarsat's third Satellite Access Station ("SAS") in Hawaii, following the commencement of commercial service in January 2009 and additional depreciation on additions to tangible fixed assets in Stratos. | dasv
06/8/2009 07:34 | That is because it is viewed as a telecommunications defensive share, but it may go up today! | leedskier
04/8/2009 10:38 | ISAT is a contrarian share - it goes down when the FTSE rises and rises when the FTSE goes down (of course there is some correlation with the bigger longer term trend as well). Its defensive qualities are valued by the market... | dasv

26/5/2009 09:58 | BROKER CALL: Inmarsat price target raised to 600p 26 May, 2009 Reach for the stars? Not quite. Credit Suisse has raised its price target on the satellite operator to 600p from 540p and retains its outperform recommendation. Broker says: 'Inmarsat reported robust Q109 results including 10.5% consolidated revenue growth despite the quarter being negatively impacted by $5m of higher volume discounts vs. Q1 08 (more than us and consensus forecast)due to the re-phasing of volume discount distribution agreements. Without the $5m extra discounts, Inmarsat would have beaten, rather than met, consensus revenues. Inmarsat also took time to complete the repositioning of its I-4 constellation in Q109 which also negatively impacted revenues.' | eipgam

14/5/2009 11:00 | The volatility of today's markets are exasperating. It makes me think that to give your money to institutions to manage might save you time but is far from guaranteeing success. It is near impossible for a unit trust, pension fund etc to react swiftly and aggressively enough to capitalise on these wild gyrations. An aggressive move on the part of a pension fund would be to go perhaps somewhere between 75% to 125% weighted in a stock. Thus really they do little more than parody a tracker.Hedge funds are more proactive i guess but the drawbacks there are well documented alongside the benefits. | steeplejack
