enami , wish I had played my hunch yesterday ,+7% is volatile to me ! I have my eye on some of the shares you mention for day trading and I should act on my ideas .Will check out the rest many thanks .

broshm the share price for ISAT is not particularly volatile, being ranked number 67 when compared to the rest of the FTSE100
The share price has just been sliding continuously all this month

Can any one account for the large rapid swings which take place with this share price ?

IMO there is no reason behind share price moves ,not now in particular ,but it has never made any logical sense or we would all make a profit !

Main thing is to stay in top 100 .

agreed I have been following since the launch, lots of debt may be a drag, but great business model

I see this share recovering dramatically. It is a very well founded business with good cashflows and equipment which gives them a near monopoly over global satelite comms.
It peforms well with trouble in the middle east owning to heavy military use. The only slow down at the moment for them could be their fleet broadband cant be being used as heavily owing to large numbers of ships sitting around the far east with vastly reduced manufacturing being shipped to western markets!
This has to be a buy at this price.
Could also become a TO target at these prices too.

The chart looks horrid!! It looks like the shares have fallen off the edge of a cliff; does anyone else think ISAT is technically very oversold? What chance of a reasonable bounce in the next week or so?

This is wobbling about on relatively low volumes for the last couple of weeks.

I see Harbinger are reducing their stake in TATE and I hope it is to get cash for a takeover here.

Very positive today, first close over the 50MA in 2 months.
Number 3 on the FTSE100 top gainers list up 6.24%.

Inmarsat, the satellite group which provides telecoms services to organisations ranging from aid agencies to the armed forces, yesterday saw its shares rise 6% in a 16.4% rise in third-quarter revenue to $162.5m (£104m). Since floating three-and-a-half years ago, Inmarsat has grown its dividend by an average of 5% annually. Buy.

when are we due a strong upturn ?
What was the sharp up/down about just before the slump ?

Monday 10 Nov third quarter results due.

Has performed OK recently, especially compared to othe FTSE100 telecom stocks. Let's hope we don't get a BT type hammering on Monday.

broshm there seems to be a general uptrend for any shares likely to be upgraded with massive volume on the implementation date (which normally co-incides with option expiry, next 21 Dec). I believe many shares are sold short to tracker funds who buy at the last moment.

You only have to looks at ISAT volume and price action up to the last implementation date 19 Sep for and example - 130p rise in 3 days leading up to that date (although the low at 455 was a bit manipulated)

EDIT Autonomy (AU.) entered FTSE100 at the same time as ISAT and the charts are almost identical.

Have you observed what the timing is for increased activity in prospective shares,in less hectic times ,prior to the review dates ?

broshm the rank changes from day to day, the UKStockchallenge page updates every Friday.

If a company is above position 90 on the review date then it is automatically admitted to the FTSE100.
Equally if it is below position 110 then it is relegated to the FTSE250

There is a reserve list for companies which may replace FTSE100 companies that are delisted due to takeover etc.
HBOS and BGY obviously next to get taken over, not sure when.
The highest Mcap companiy on the reserve list will replace them.

anyone know about the top 100 FTSE ? ISAT was in at last 1/4 listing ,I thought
the list was only made 4 times per year ?The cut was over 2000M
Last time I looked in Sunday paper ISAT was not on the list ??
