25/7/2008 18:52 | Thanks for that ; strange, not sure I follow the logic. | wad collector
25/7/2008 14:34 | Yes , it is tempting to add, but like many I suspect ,I am fully invested elsewhere.Happy to hold though. | wad collector
25/7/2008 09:24 | Certainly seems a bit strange, never seen an offer without a price before. Opened with a short covering spike but with no target price I guess nobody sure what to do, the best i can think of is the Monday's gap down will close and the share price will move circa 500 until a takeover price is quoted. | enami
21/7/2008 09:07 | ..but should have sold on the peak and bought back today.Ah well , the wisdom of the retrospectoscope. | wad collector
07/7/2008 15:18 | Harbinger statement has caused a hike today; all very cautious but I suspect most holders will continue to hold. | wad collector
03/7/2008 11:18 | The Gallileo tendering statement is an interesting read ; so many vested interests. And the Yanks can bid too.Do they have to follow the subcontracting rules? Does the EC really care whether an American company subcontracts to other American companies?Do the Germans have more say in the contract decision as they contribute more? Who bets it will turn into a Politically Correct mess of multiple companies holding small stakes in an endlessly delayed Chimera of technology like the Eurofighter?Oh and it might just run over budget.By a billion or two. | wad collector
03/7/2008 08:45 | With the volatility in all sectors, Inmarsat is a stock worth holding onto. Having read numerous press reports about a potential takeover at around £6.10, this is definitely a stock to be held. If you were to do your home work and not just take my word, check the major holders of this stock, and it is evidently clear that the three major holders of this stock are holding out for an offer around £6.10. One to buy and hold. | fazhussain

27/6/2008 07:49 | lol....ramptastic! "Satellite operator Inmarsat shone like a beacon amidst the gloom as rumours of a Middle East consortium bid approach at 610p a share intensified" "Satellite operator Inmarsat firmed 14 to 500p as bid talk resurfaced once more. Traders speculated that Harbinger Capital, the aggressive US hedge that owns 28pc of Inmarsat, may be looking to roll up the company with some of the US satellite groups that it controls. However, it is understood that Inmarsat has not received any approaches at this stage and has not yet had any contact with Harbinger" | typo56

26/6/2008 16:57 | PM: Let's get to it PM: Now this is not RAW. It has been cooked, but only on one side. PM: Go Neil NH: Inmarsat NH: there is a deal in the offing PM: What detail have you got?? NH: a few bits NH: 600p bid PM: Hmmm - this has already been mvoing this morning - what the price now? NH: it is up 29.5p at 515p NH: a rise of 6% PM: Bandit rating? NH: PM: Ooooh. PM: So we are pretty certain a deal is being cooked here PM: But who is the bidder? NH: we are not sure at the moment NH: but we understand Merrill Lynch are involved PM: Yep NH: and the shareholder structure of ISAT is very interesting PM: Explain NH: one person owns 29% NH: a certain P Falcone PM: Ah, he's shrewdie that's short HBOS NH: that's right he is the top guy at the incredibly successful hedge fund Harbinger NH: now NH: Harbinger has other assets in the satellite world NH: Sky Terra or MSV NH: Harbinger has a 63% stake in this company NH: which in turn owns a 11% stake in another satellite company called TerreStar PM: This would be a £2.7bn deal at six quid NH: they currently have spectrum to operate wireless mobile services in North America NH: and last year announed a tie-up with ISAT NH: so it is perfectly possibly that Harbinger is trying to bring the three companies together to built a large sat co NH: to do this Harbinger would need the backing of ISAT other bid shareholder NH: Lansdowne NH: now one theory in the market this morning is that an offer has been made for the Lansdown holding NH: we are not sure that is true NH: but clearly something is happening here PM: To recap - we are assured that deal is being prepared on Inmarsat PM: But we do not know whether it will complete PM: it is difficult to talk about 2.7bn bids when the Footsie is threatening to go into free fall PM: So reader beware! | tonysss13
