Well one of our customers is doing okay. While only one from many, and overall this will not reflect others it is encouraging, and may explain the interest
in imd last week, and thats without the speculative TV potential kicking in.

GMG Radio Sees Substantial Revenue Growth

Details on the substantial revenue growth seen by Guardian Media Group Radio over the last six months were released on the Jan 10th 2006 and despite the current gloom in commercial radio, revenues for this quarter (Oct-Dec) are up 22% year on year

I don,t think you will have any worries there VNP, my guess is that some good news is about to break and 50p will soon be broken.

Your right Cha1iegeorge2, hope for a bit more of tick up next week. Wish I had sold in the 80s and then brought back in the mid 30s but that is hindsight of cause. With ITV ready to kick in, should see revenues take of again. As my post further up of old news with the figures they quote hopefully a lot of upside. Would be happy to get above 50p my break even point.

Nice tick up yesterday.
Monday looks interesting.
I bet VNP is pleased!

The graph dropped because of the timescale of the roll-out and the cashburn (imho) VNP.

Assuming there are no nasties hidden in the results, then there's no reason that we can't get back to the 80p we were at before the slide started.

I remember that clipping with the £1.24 target - I know it's a long time ago, but as far as I'm concerned, the only problem has been the timescale.

If we can get the income this comming year, then I expect the (long awaited) revaluation.

(Or yes, someone may have seen the results - but that's a good £100k traded today - when the usual is £4.5k/day - you'd want to be sure).

Have a good weekend. (again) ;)

Looks like a good Friday the 13th for us.

Might be nothing, but it's a big trading day on nothing.

(I'm really quite pleased that it's going up on nothing - down and I'd be twitching to find out the reason)

Have a good weekend

deehill,

If your still about do you know how these are getting on now.

https://www.musicpointuk.com/

I see the parent company Destra was doining a deal with AEM last Sept to offload the media side in exchange for AEM shares, which then fell through at the back end of Nov. I noticed in one of your earlier posts that you mention
that IMD had seen of competition from Oz. Reading releases on the Destra site
who blame revenues at AEM for terminating the deal, do you believe it may be
that musicpoint was not living up to expectaions?

L,

agree it does not make much sense, just really trying to see how the old forecast came about. Btw i see yahoo is now listed, had a quick nosey last night at the site, maybe imd are lining themselves up for a bit more internet
work, and i suppose yahoo is not too much of a suprise considering the position that the new lass held there.

got to go, time for school.

Hi L,

Are you suggesting that 40% of 40% is 16%, which if so there is approx a 700% possible upside in revenues. If that was the case i would be jumping in with both feet, but i can't imagine the mkt would be pricing imd so wrong if so.

Afternoon Games,

I seem to remember reading the same thing, at the time (and wondering like you how it all added up).

Isn't it the difference between having 40% of the broadcasters on board and 40% of the market volume? I'm sure there is an element of customers keeping a foot in each camp until (hopefully) ITV / Sky / whoever have enough confidence in IMD to say it will be their preferred system...

Just been looking into the world cup, and it may not look too bad.

UTV (imd customer) purchased Talksport recently and according to a trading statement early Dec they appear to be quite upbeat.

John McCann, Group Chief Executive, said: 'We are very pleased with the
performance of UTV Radio, especially talkSPORT where revenues are well ahead of
last year. With the football World Cup in 2006, we anticipate continued growth
at UTV Radio and we look forward to the launch of Talk 107 in Edinburgh on 14
February.'

And while their TV side is down, interestingly Radio is doing quite well.

In the six month period to 31 December 2005, revenue at UTV Radio is
expected to be up by approximately 5%, which should comfortably outperform
the radio advertising market in Great Britain.

In our other divisions, trading in the second half of 2005 is broadly in line
with expectations. The television advertising marketplace remains difficult
and revenue from this source is expected to be down by about 3.5% in the six
months to 31 December 2005, although cost savings will mitigate this
reduction. Advertising revenue in our Irish radio stations continues to enjoy
good growth and should be up by approximately 16% in the second half. In 2005
we expect to write off costs of about £0.6m, including pre-operational
expenditure of £0.4m, in our new radio station in Belfast, which launched
successfully on 14 November 2005. Strong revenue growth of at least 50% should
be achievable in our new media division in the second half of the current year.

Has anyone had a quick scan over the other media listed companies?

Well, first post of the year (happy new year all) we didn't get the Christmas message that we hoped for VNP, but no news is often not that bad :)

With the full portfolio of broadcasters on board now, I'm really hoping that the results in March make this a great year for us all. I know each year brings fresh hopes, but if we remember what the board told us at the interims:

"At 30 June 2005 the total investment in the television system exceeded #3 million including half of an additional #700,000 added to the budget as a result of ITV. This large figure involves not only the direct cost of fitting out ITV but also extra expenditure in expanding future capacity to ensure all potential demand can be satisfied. Product development is a continuing requirement.
However the major capital fitting out programme is now committed and future
development will proceed at a lower level."

Then we have at least two things to look forward to:

1) The fact that the £3m has now been spent, the (major) cashburn is over, and a proportion of that income which was being spent on the rollout, should now make its way to patient shareholders like us.

2) The money which was spent to get ITV / Sky aboard, should now bring income from those sites that we haven't seen before, again with a proportion of the income coming our way.

If the results in March bear this out, and there's no reason that they shouldn't (I'm sure any shock announcements of materially different company performance would be required to be made to the market before the financial year end last week), then a rerating of the shareprice should follow too.

A turnaround in the cyclical radio market is probably too much to hope for, but you can't have everything.

It's been a long time since Chemex, and in hindsight I often hoped for too much too soon - but then again, who doesn't ;)

Anyway, I really think that this year could get little IMD noticed outside the sleepy world of the five readers of this thread and the post office / BT pension funds ;)

Here's to this year, the dividends during it and the shareprice at the end :)

Happy Christmas to you too VNP - I hope there's a little more action next year.

With Sky and ITV on board now, we should start to see some returns.
