Agree with all comments about not using stoplosses, particularly on volatile shares. I used to dabble in spread bets on precious metals. The flash crashes there are something else so I gave it up as a rigged casino.

Say the share price will be £10 next week and see if you get any tick ups?

Lukead - s_k did post a while ago to say he was still reading the forum. Many of the more insightful posters have stopped adding anything as the relentless (and mind numbingly repetitive) ramping has grown significantly recently. It's a crying shame that this happens but there's not much point in posting a reasoned argument as it inevitably gets voted and shouted down. :-(

Njb67, I am not sure about spread betting stop losses. I have traded Forex and shares and stop losses are market orders. Spread betting is different as longs and shorts are aggregated together and the balance hedged.

New to AIM shares, only invested in Investment/unit trusts previously by monthly subscription. Hzve little knowledge of how market at this level works. Did not realise MMs have such control over the direction of shares without significant news to what appears to be to tneir advantage and at the expense of PIs. Perhaps it is also because i am a haematologist in the medical field. Dont deal with Lupus but haematological malignancies. No hidden agenda whatsoever.

ytsa2, you ask an awful lot of questions and have been a member since esrly this year.
Obviously you are concerned, anything else we should know ?

Rather than buy at current level, with the MMs potentially dropping price to trigger stops and release shares is it worth putting in limit order in. No idea what it could drop too though. Any thoughts

Most stop losses will be set at or just below key levels. This is one reason why charting is so useful. It will identify these levels. Also, round figures are important. If a share is priced at 110p after a good run, lots of investors will seek to protect gains by putting a stop loss at £1. The market knows this and will trigger a flash crash to pick up stock cheaply. This knowledge is doubly important if you are spread betting. This is why I never use stop losses these days. I have learnt this lesson the hard and expensive way.

Are you sure that is correct? I was under the impression that a stop loss order is to your broker/spread bet company, instructing them to act in a given circumstance. It only goes to the market if the stop is triggered. HL state that they do not disclose limit/stop order information to the market.
Thoughts?
