13/5/2017 09:43 | A small correction to your excellent post if I may Control1 ;-) Clair field which IS owned by and is being developed by a major Clair field which IS owned by and is being developed by 4 majors......... I guess (if it pans out heading for double figure billion bbls OIP) then there will be more than one major at the FFD stage. Another guess, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the EPS progressing with a mid tier, on the bases that they would be willing to secure their place at the table with a slightly more generous deal for HUR than they would get with a major right now. The major(s) would then join at FFD stage. | oilretire

13/5/2017 06:10 | Thanks for the summary, control. Without doubt we have a game changer for the UK here and just as others have indicated it should not be too long before a proper valuation appears. We will be in the end game soon enough, in the meantime we are still manoeuvring in the middle game. | chessman2
12/5/2017 22:22 | Control-excellent summary of the facts. | cumnor
12/5/2017 21:41 | Dr T playing a blinder imo. Mrkt knows full well HUR sitting on several billion barrels-I won't even bother doing the maths but lots are very anxious to get in here judging the BS emanating from some of today's obviously desperate posters who missed out here like some of us who got in early. Tough. The majors -they are running dry-will want in-make no mistake, as will some IBs who see and want a share of the spoils, and neither want to pay. But this is normal practice in London when a nugget like HUR hits the market so they will play games, prevaricate, short etc and DR T is aware this is how it works. A couple of months of warrant issued in this manner has caught them off guard and gives HUR loads of breathing space while adding value. I suspect a couple of the majors will now be eyeing each other-in addition to hur- and may move quicker before someone else makes the land grab. The broker is also on notice that if they play games they are out of this very lucrative story-with huge rewards to come if they play ball. Shorts could be wiped at any time, esp with farmout, or even takeout, possible at any time. This guy knows what he is doing. imo | cumnor
12/5/2017 21:41 | Cove energy hit big and got taken out, and never even produced a CPR. HUR is very cheap. Consider the income even from eps not alone huge resource over all assets, and they ARE in farm in discussions.... don't be fooled by new comers who aren't even invested. Probably bitter... | leeson31
12/5/2017 20:55 | @ buffy.........so Mr.250 SWB is a self interested gastronome.......SHU | telbap
12/5/2017 20:52 | The timerityn of it all. Criticising a company that in the last 12 months has seen a 5 fold increase in share price Even a thicky such as I can see that there must be a lot of envy with the longs here LOLOLOLOLOL | rutter
12/5/2017 20:46 | The volume was huge today at 11m. I wonder if some IIs have sold a few as they have or expect to be offered some with the 5% discount. Anyway a lot of recycling which is always good | davidblack
12/5/2017 19:10 | Binarypilot, HUR have only produced a CPR for Lancaster. Based on the 2P figure, sure the market cap would be considered high. The thing is, the market is forward looking, and you may or may not know, that within 8 months we are expecting a CPR for the other assets. Even if the pressure data from Halifax isn't indicative of one large field with Lancaster, and Warwick and Lincoln aren't in communication, we will have enough 2P to justify far more than the market cap. Of course, funding hasn't been sorted, but that wasn't. the thrust of your post. Besides, anybody who posts using uppercase letters for emphasis is usually far too preoccupied with themself to write a useful balanced post. Buffy | buffythebuffoon
12/5/2017 18:52 | Oil companies are usually valued for purposes of a takeover on their 2P. The values that get quoted in the press/RNSs etc may tend to concentrate on $/2Pbbl valuations as they are easy for hacks to calculate, and make good headlines - but to think that bidding companies don't pay very close attention to all the other potential assets of a company is complete nonsense. Peter | greyingsurfer
12/5/2017 18:36 | The lack of understanding on this board is astonishing. NOBODY will value an oil company based on its contingent resources. Oil companies are usually valued for purposes of a takeover on their 2P. This makes HUR look overvalued on fundamentals. IMO. Talk of a takeover from a major is fantasy land. | binarypilot
12/5/2017 18:32 | Nicebut, You don't reckon they can do a farm out cause it never happened the last time and the GKP experience..last time there was nothing happening anywhere as the oil market was in crisis, no deals were done anywhere.. So far this year we have had 2 deals in the UK sector, Chrysaor buying Shells assets and Delek buying out Ithica..this time its different IMO. | muddy_40
12/5/2017 18:24 | nicebut...I may not have learned much since my first share buy in 1959, but one thing I have learned is to expect the unexpected. Was just showing my current thinking on HUR and willing to accept I may be 100% wrong. | mrwaite
12/5/2017 18:05 | when will WE see the first drop? | the patient investor
12/5/2017 17:45 | Well if a major or minor, for that matter, wasn`t even interested in a farm-in at anything other than `pennies`, what makes you think they are suddenly go to buy this lock stock and barrel? Heard it all before, I`m afraid. You don`t make any sense... | nicebut
12/5/2017 17:29 | Hi Mr Waite I feel honoured 35 posts in 14 years and several today! Have a good weekend and lets hope that we can get to that £3 area before a major pounces. DB | davidblack
12/5/2017 17:14 | Davidblack I think we agree but I believe DrT wants to stay independent until first oil, albeit with rather less than 100%. My suggestion for a buyout attempt may be less than yours. I just don't see more than £2 if later this year. More towards £3 as we get into 2018 if no EPS problems and budgets held. | mrwaite
12/5/2017 17:10 | Mr Waite tax losses are not going to be of much use to us unless you believe that we are going to remain independent all the way through to first oil. They increase the value of the company to anyone who might want to take it out. Peter | greyingsurfer
12/5/2017 17:08 | Hopefully the warrants will be quickly placed and then with quite a few institutions having "Seen" the story buying taking us up to the 70s ahead of any Earn In deal for Lancaster. We then get the funds sent to date rebated to us for further drilling and go crazy with the drill. If we end up with a 50% interest in the whole area with 3 billion barrels of recoverable at $5 a barrel that would be $7.5bn market cap on say 1.5bn shares in issue or so. The answer would then be £3.85 and more for the sundry assets. | davidblack
12/5/2017 16:46 | i have an isa waiting for a few of these...how long to wait...that's the question | jrjr99
12/5/2017 16:36 | I think we have to expect a bit of downwards pressure, until they clear the air with some positive news on finance. | rayrac |
