16/11/2016 16:56 | Article here comparing BP and Shell: Basically saying as I read it that Shell is busy digesting BG and to some extent bought it at the wrong time whereas BP was forced by Deepwater to divest asset at a "good" time and is now able to look at adding assets again? "... preference for BP stems from the timing of cost cutting and investment by each firm... [Shell] has belatedly been cutting costs and canning projects, but its behaviour is cyclical, investing at the top and cutting at the bottom... [but] BP had been making cuts and selling assets far earlier, putting it in a better position to invest now." Which to me sounds ideal for HUR, given BP's history West of Shetland? | fardistanthills

16/11/2016 13:26 | Shells interests in Norway are subject to the very high taxation regime and have substantial decommissioning liabilities that will be attached. I would be surprised if they are even able to breakeven with those assets. They have little bearing on Hurricane assets. Cash | cashandcard
16/11/2016 08:39 | Hi Hopeful Holder. Comparing Shell's assets with Hurricane's makes no sense. Just because they are both in the North Sea doesn't equate the assets. Also Shell are likely to own more aging assets which may be past prime production. Hurricane also is tapping a different kind of reservoir, which is looking to yield great rewards with less effort. I guess in answer to your question, this will mean nothing to Hurricane (in my opinion). The North sea is basically more expensive to drill than shallower waters which means slimmer margins if the reservoir isn't great.. with Hurr, so far so good! :) | dave19w
