24/1/2018 21:56 | Highest Brent close since 2014 and US inventories down 44% on the year, I've seen numerous commentators proclaiming that the Saudis are unhappy with prices this high, the reality is they couldn't kill off shale @ $30 so they're unlikely to kill it off at any price - perhaps they've made their peace with this. They'll be quite happy producing fractionally less oil at twice the price and leaving the shale producers to undo themselves when the easy to extract shale oil has been plundered. So it looks like workovers to commence in March, it all gets a bit frantic from then on. Enjoy the silence while it lasts, in the meantime we plod on. | prefab |
