ld - there would have to be an application to join the main market for automatic entry to happen. There are several large cap companies still on AIM:

edit: Notably, one would qualify for the FTSE100

I am optimistic that this time around they will do a deal while the oil price is buoyant perhaps famout 50% of Lancaster,

If it rises a bit more approx 10% to £850m wouldn't this give us an automatic entry into the ftse 250 come March

No chance different partners if resovoirs are the same from two wells at least.

The uncrossing trades today and for the past fews days have all been buys which bodes well for another good day tomorrow.

I expect the 40p marker to be crossed. Have more institutions been buying or is it a stakebuilder with special interests?

Unfortunately the large trades are not always shown; Winterflood in particular manages to hide them.

Makes sense to farm different fields to different partners. As operational economy of scale does not suffer due to huge individul fields. All together sold for price could be higher. And faster.

H.H. I think your suggestion that there may be different farm-partners for different fields is a good one. It would open things up for smaller, less wealthy cos. to bid on one field only. Very exciting year ahead !!

Hopeful - that's my point. E&P is risky but in the next year nothing this company is doing is risky. There is no E&P going on - just a couple of well recompletions, which should be easy and virtually risk free. The company is still being priced with a risk element lowering the price and I do not think that is justified.

Hats off to the MMS. At times I was getting a 1 basis point dealing spread (39.85-86 for eg) in 25k and 50k shares......... Bought 250k today.

You talk much sense Peter and I share your views. Shab, oil e&p as we all know is a risky business and anything can go wrong and often will. It is how we address those issues that will help determine market confidence and that of pi's.So much potential and oil proven to flow at the initial stage. I'm really interested in how / when the oil will flow coupled with who (and timing) of an interest to farm in/ takeover / partner with the developing of the fields. Perhaps we will have different partners which is why HUR have split the company into sub co's for each field?

I wonder how many of the regular posters have gone silent because they have sold out.

I'm not sure who you have in mind, but for the record I increased my holding in mid/late Dec, and I don't see any likelihood of selling this year. (Though it's quite possible - even likely - the share price will get to a level that takes it over the 20-25% of my portfolio limit I tend to apply to holdings, in which case I'll probably trim.)

At the moment I'm not sure there's a lot to say. Progress is as expected, and while I was always unclear about when the share price would start to move, there's nothing in what we've seen so far that's a surprise. Nor would a pull back at some point be, but overall I'd expect the share price to be usefully above where it is now by the end of the year.

For a while it has amazed me that people do not realise what a one way bet this share is. Do you think that the share price will be at, or below, the current price on day 1 of first oil? Very, very unlikely. Barring some engineering issue, which will probably be insured anyway, there is virtually no risk up to that time. The risk is that the oil does not flow as expected.

So buy now and sell on day 1. Free money.

Shell opening 8 new manned rigs in north sea a first in 30 years which is good for Hurr and the sector in that area. Investers will prefer the cheap price of Hurr just now and a huge shot in the arm for Hurr ambitions in north sea.If we can complete CPE for our other fields im sure Shell would bid north of 300p for Hurr.

Still here too and watching quietly.

I was wondering if the sudden upwards movement (and the recent article about timings could be Q3/Q4 first oil) has cause a lot of those PI who sold out in 40s & 50s to hasten there re-entry due to fear of missing out. A sort a self full filling momentum.

ltinvestor - long term fundamental investors like thee and me are certainly not going to be selling. But many have shorter time horizons and others favour being active in style, selling their winners and putting the proceeds in the next big thing.

The other point is that a 50% rise in the share price means that people have a higher percentage of their portfolio in the stock. The increased concentration is not to everyone's taste.

I'm still looking for 200p or thereabouts in due course unless there's a take-out ahead of time.
