21/3/2024 13:28 | I don't think the issue of these subordinated notes has anything to do with the current price. HSBC like all banks and other large companies periodically borrows money on the markets which is repaid at a set time and pays a set rate of interest. Subordinated debt is as the name suggests debt which in cases of default is subordinated to other debt, but is superior to equity. HSBC has over 40 such instruments. Personally I have a few HSBC bonds. Useful things to buy if you think interest rates are going down. In November HSBC issued some dollar notes at over 7.0%, todays offer is way below that, which is I guess a positive sign. | mancman1 | |
