It's true we have a very poor choice, it's been like that since John Smith died if not earlier.

I dream of a 51 cent dividend it would be amazing, it would all so stop me trampolining around the stocks and for once actually go long on something. but it seems a lot of companies are using the situation to cut their dividends. A number out of the air, I would say there is a 15% chance of 51 cents.
I am starting to feel jinx with HSBC at the moment every time I buy in it drops. My timing is terrible of late when buying this stock. One day I will win that flip of the coin when I buy.

Stan the better bet imv too :)

Likewise. Bon chance.

But short term both should do well when they resume their dividend payments(assuming at similar previous levels)

Hundreds of senior employees at British banks HSBC and Standard Chartered have been members of the Chinese Communist Party, according to documents seen by the Daily Telegraph. The lists show that at least 335 HSBC employees were CCP members. Current members include the senior vice president of HSBC China, the president of HSBC’s Shenzhen office and the deputy manager of Hong Kong Corporate and Consumer Products are listed as members. - Telegraph

Talks to find a post-Brexit trade deal will "go the extra mile" beyond Sunday's deadline in bid to reach agreement, says EU chief. Prices probably up Monday morning on news imo. spud

Joe Bideen will be president January the market will fly. He loves China and his family is heavily financially involved with it so Hsbc and Stan should do well. It's in his benefit if China rises, we all know USA is falling apart now so time to invest wisely. Slowly slowly catchy monkey.

A fair bit of downside is already baked in. After all, we've been left (is that proper grammar?) for some time already. It's just that mutual contract signing which hasn't happened yet. As has been said, dollar earners will be ok as will defensives like oil, fags ect. spud

Peddlers,
I'd be more worried what goes on Hong Kong / Taiwan side myself regarding HSBC.

Think this was announced after the close so we may see some buying tomorrow on the back of Dividend resumption.
