15/2/2019 22:15 | It would not surprise me that China is hoarding the base battery metals Their thinking has been and is far ahead | jailbird
15/2/2019 22:11 | Following on from that , you will find this interesting too https://www.forbes.c | jailbird
15/2/2019 21:07 | Isn't it just JB, I find the whole thing fascinating. Everyone (China) piled into solar panel production to the point where prices collapsed, they are almost a commodity now. And l-ion batteries are rapidly going the same way. Which has two positive features for Ni, one more batteries means more Ni and lower prices means more and quicker adoption. And I would add probably a longer lifespan until the technology is replaced with a better non Ni alternative. We seem to be seeing with EVs an opportunity for new vehicle manufacturers and countries to enter the vehicle market where up to now there have been massive barriers to entry and they are all going to want Ni, probably for at least the next decade if not longer. | salmonn1
15/2/2019 10:52 | Thanks for posting that Twigs. Good to see HZM posting on Sustainability, especially after the VALE dam failure. | uapatel
15/2/2019 09:17 | It appears someone doesn’t want LME to drop below 200k as its back over again, however cancelled warrants shot up to 64k | twigs3
14/2/2019 22:07 | Yes, and for HZM, we just need the LME stocks to keep on declining, Nickel price will respond. | craigieboy1
14/2/2019 11:55 | Will be glad when q1 is over - AIM has been a total nightmare!!! | wooster4
14/2/2019 05:57 | Maybe the rebound has started, interesting to see how we close out Feb. How long will we be made to wait..... | craigieboy1
13/2/2019 15:51 | Thanks JB, will The price ever rise is the question! I like this bit :-) None of these big shortages have yet come to pass and it’s hard to imagine an industry which is investing tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars transitioning to EVs being stopped by a few billion shortfall in nickel mining investment,” BNEF analyst Logan Goldie-Scot reports. | twigs3

12/2/2019 12:35 | Nickel stocks below 200k again. Three month nickel closed Monday's trading session at $5.67/lb . Indicators at 6:15 am CST today show 3 month nickel trading around $.05/lb lower. Stockpiles fell below the 200,000 tonne level for the second time this year, and started today's session just over the 199,600 tonne level. LMe nickel is lower this morning, and Shanghai traders also traded nickel lower overnight. U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is in Beijing, set to begin several days of trade negotiations on Thursday. And while Wall Street seems to be excited by the news, commodity traders are showing increased skepticism. The US Dollar has been strengthening against the Euro since the 4th, the day nickel sneaked above the $13,000 tonne level. Support is not something we have talked about much this year, but $5.23/lb is where we show technical support. All eyes on China. Average price of cash nickel so far this month - $5.77/lb Average price of LME traded nickel in in 2018 - $5.95/lb / 2017 - $4.73/lb / 2016 - $4.36/lb / 2015 - $5.37/lb / | twigs3
11/2/2019 10:54 | Yes absolutely , I am too unsure .I can only go on what was said on the conf call , which was much after the AGM If anyone is in touch with JM, be could to clarify otherwise just wait for PEA | jailbird
11/2/2019 10:48 | JB, I could be wrong about this, from memory alone at this year's AGM I thought JM said a smaller than Vale HPAL was the plan, I may have misremembered. But we'll have the PEA soon so things will be clearer. | salmonn1
10/2/2019 11:41 | Could well be Teck would make sense if there leaching process works, also JM was very clear they would bring in a partner for that side of it, have Teck already expressed an interest in that side of the project I wonder? | twigs3
10/2/2019 07:31 | Since the testing is being carried out in Canada (Teck is housed there)I wonder if the CESL Nickel process Is being considered ?https://www.teck.co | jailbird
10/2/2019 07:16 | Salmonn1The conf call 23m:30s, JM clearly said not using HPAL , but probably other leaching process with partner So maybe Teck is then the potential partner here as as mentioned below This will reduce costs and build time .I have not read any change in this approach since unless you know more | jailbird
10/2/2019 07:05 | From LME .. Redroy comment Interesting comment after what we wee discussing The 2nd half of that article is def worth a read again Nickel needs to be at least $14k10While eagerly awaiting the test results for Battery grade potential products from our high grade Limonite portion of the Vermelho laterite deposit. I have been tracking the attempt by China's steel producer Tsingshan to disrupt the future Nickel sulphate/hydroxide supply into EV battery market, ( like they did with low grade NiPi) few years back. I came across a report ( thanks to Nuno on iii), which might be worth reading for anyone interested:-www.benc | jailbird
09/2/2019 10:01 | So Vermelho is going to be a copy of Araguaia, with the possibility of leaching of some type for battery grade nickel cobalt in the future. So NPV should be close to Araguaia BFS. Even better. | twigs3
08/2/2019 19:18 | Indeed. Absolutely nothing to do with brexit! | horneblower
08/2/2019 18:33 | Just talked to an old friend who brother in law works for Nissan UKHe said there were EV battery shortages last year but now this has ramped and plenty available He said it looks like they are ramping up electrification and hybrid models for next year .Surprised how quickly diesel collapsed , so just about phased this out now . Next will start to phase out petrol models as well Shows how fast things are moving | jailbird
08/2/2019 16:14 | Nickel falling back to $12k+ for now | jailbird
08/2/2019 15:49 | Chaps That conf call Re-listen makes sense now So construction of Vermelho may start after Araguia has been completed , but if a partner comes on board , then it could be constructed in parallel . This would be superb if this can happen. | jailbird |
