SOLG - definite bowl beginning to curve upwards now. Must be a great entry/top-up point.

TPJ - the bowl was forming nicely and this should help

Huge news out in Oz in last few minutes from their partner at Crater Mountain Gold Anomaly (ASX:GOA)

215m @ 1.46g/tonne ! from Drill hole NEV019

after previous

286m @ 0.82g/tonne from Drill hole NEV018

That is huge improvement to grade and they still haven't hit the potential 'high grade intrusion zone' !

Not really my kind of stock (too small & too illiquid) but appeared on one of my screens & noticed a possible bowl forming - ISA'ble as well.

I always look at the 200-day ma when assessing stock charts as it will usually form a fairly regular bowl shape in the kind of recovery stocks we're talking about.

I have a couple of rules I try to stick to..

1. Never buy a stock which is trading below it's 200-day ma.
2. Never buy a stock in which the 200-day ma is declining

If you can find a stock which has recently broken above the 200-day ma, which has itself recently started to rise, that's a good starting point. If you can find one which has also broken through an established resistance line, you're possibly onto a winner. If volume has been above average as well, that's another confirmation.

HVE seems to fit the bill pretty well at the moment...

Been reading a couple of pieces on retail in todays Times, Bizz section, Monsoon in particular has done well, similar strategy to FCCN with overseas exposure, FCCN deffo very interesting with it's multiple channel online outlets. I'm still buying

many retailers underestimated imo Cr4zyness, particularly fashion.

Regarding when to sell out of a bowl Pillion - that's the tough question. If you can find the bowls on a low point like HVE recently or FCCN then deciding on the sell point isn't really a problem, you've probably multibagged on many of them when the bowl plays out. I'd say by the time the bowl gets back to a sttarting point in might be worth selling a portion, say 25-50% depending how big your gain has been and to lock some in. But many of these bowls turn out to be cup and handle type formations so it's usually worth holding for that further leg up after consolidation. I think that further leg up is just the continuation of the trend but a consolidation point forms where investors take a bit of profit as the bowl plays out imo - you're never gonna get out at the top tho - unless you're dead lucky - always too soon or too late imo.

I was shot down with my last suggestion but have been looking at a few more charts and I think pyc is a good candidate or has the bowl already formed.

Very interesting thread

Assuming one picks a winner.... I was wondering what the exit strategy is ?

More a cup and handle I know -- but VGAS is going well
The share price won't go up for ever

CR posted on home:

Profits up at Homebase

An upswing in big ticket items and supporting installation services helped Homebase to a 16% increase in annual profits.
Parent Home Retail Group, which also owns Argos, said Homebase sales dipped 1.4% to £1.55bn for the year to February, while profit rose to £47.6m from £41.2m. Improvements were made in cost productivity and stock management.
"Big ticket sales were ahead with growth in bathrooms and bedrooms," the company said. "Sales for remaing categories were marginally down," the company said.
Analysts said the figures showed a trend toward home improvement rather than house moving.
The number of stores was down slightly at 341.

Holders Tech - HDT:

# Good chart supported by excellent fundamentals.

# At 122p Historic PER = 9.5x

# Yield = 4.4%

# Growth sector and good trading update at yesterday's AGM

# Only problem is that not much stock in free float - you just have to buy a few and accumulate

CR - SYM .. just appointed SEYP as new Nomad. Good FY results & starting to pick up blue-chip customer base all over the world thru growing distributor list. some hints at new products for launch this year. been there since the 12's but looking for a fair bit higher this next year .... close to gaining critical mass, imo

mentioned this one already. If the right side of this 'could-be' bowl lifts as the left side declined ... well the possibilities are quite attractive :-) i can wait 5 years for a 30-bagger

stock is like hen's teeth mind & i believe we'll need to probe the 60's before any gets shaken out near term

Think you've missed the HVE bowl ?

Take a look at STY - a similar co - the Chairman just bought 250k. £7.5m mkt cap, has £7.5m in cash and a PE of 6 for this year and a PE of 3.5 for next year - potentially a beautiful bowl imo, just about to turn up - trading statement mid May.

I think this may qualify for a bowl formation.. I choose it last year in the UK stock challenge and for thi s year also..

It floated 3 years ago at 40p and took 2 years to regain that level after falling as low as 10p in Nov 2009 since when it has rocketed to 200p.
