01/12/2021 08:33 | Have always found HILS to be a gem. Suspect management will once again prove the doubters wrong. Would love to see a bigger dividend personally, but will more than happily take the share price increases. | bothdavis
25/11/2021 22:25 | Simply Wall Street is a bot analysis? A mere cursory glance at the interim results will reveal that dividend cover for the year will be about 2.5x and profit margins are well up on last year once you strip out the one-off cost of closing two loss-making businesses. Having said that I thought the statement today was less ebullient than the outlook at the half-year so was not surprised to see a fall , although maybe a little overcooked? | gco1133a
25/11/2021 21:22 | philander Simply Wall St in its comments 24 days ago (1 Nov) was ambivalent as to the future progress of HILS and in its risk analysis pointed to the 1.58% dividend's not being well covered by earnings and profit margins at 2.9% lower than last year. (finance yahoo HILS) I suspect our judgments have been blurred by the Biden Infrastructure Bill which seemed to prompt the recent share price increase. A very big fall. | mayers
25/11/2021 18:56 | hawaly, thanks for that. HILS Chairman purchase today 2,120 @ 17.44099057p | philanderer
25/11/2021 16:36 | People may have been looking for a specific mention of the Infrastructure bill in the update. Perhaps pertinent to read across some figures from AHT - although not necessarily "like with like" the differences stand out: PER (f) HILS 22.5 AHT 23.3 Operating Margin: HILS 6.21% AHT 24% EPS HILS 70.4p AHT 255p GLA 😎 | hawaly
25/11/2021 16:17 | Looks to have been someone unloading between 9am - 11am. Worth looking out for any delayed reporting after the market close. | philanderer
25/11/2021 15:44 | Taking a pragmatic view - this peaked around £15 during their 2019FY when earnings were on a par with forecast earnings this FY. So had it got ahead of itself?. Next FY eps is forecast to grow by about 8% or so, let’s be generous with Biden’s infra bill starting to feed through (although Jeffries reckon that won’t impact income streams until FY23), but let’s call it +12%. That’s still only circa £17. Perhaps the market was expecting a beat to justify a PE in the low / mid twenties?. Also a bit baffled though, haven’t bought in yet. | disc0dave45
25/11/2021 13:39 | Makes you wonder what would have happened if they'd been trailing an earnings miss... Can't see anything wrong with this announcement, does not compute. | dave129

25/11/2021 11:44 | -8% and no sign of turning . Don't get it at all. | philanderer
25/11/2021 11:32 | In line and passing on increased supplier costs to customers and bump.....take advantage of this lunacy IMO. | disc0dave45
25/11/2021 10:58 | Well I've read it three times now and it seems pretty well faultless. ADVFN market report: "...Hill & Smith lost ground even as it said it expects annual profit to meet market expectations after "robust" trading in the previous four months". | philanderer
25/11/2021 10:45 | As soon as you mention supply chain headwinds - bash!!!! Plus we have had a good run recently. Suet | suetballs
