Safety barrier maker Hill & Smith received a vote of confidence from analysts at Jefferies who urged clients to buy, as they believe it can rise even higher.

The investment bank said the group is doing its best to capitalise on the ‘generational infrastructure investments’ in the US, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, which should drive growth over the next few years. Shares rose 1.3 per cent, or 24p, to 1874 p.

Continuing the policy.

When quizzed at the AGM before last, they said that acquisitions would be concentrated in the US and indicated the sort of amounts that they would be prepared to pay.

They are trying to build a business sector, the Creative Composites Group.
The purchase will... "further accelerate our strategy in this exciting and growing market, expanding our customer base and product range, while also providing additional manufacturing capability and purchasing synergies."

It makes a lot of sense, especially as it is "expected to be earnings enhancing to the Group in 2024." That should mitigate any risk. Gaving Hiks behind them should certainly accelerate things.

All positive.

Hill & Smith expects the purchase to be earnings-enhancing next year.

‘Hill & Smith’s recent acquisitions have performed well (three of the four ahead of expectations) and we expect the market will welcome this well-timed/priced transaction,’ analysts at Jefferies commented.

UK construction tough but buying opportunities exist, says Berenberg

Berenberg highlighted six key 'buys' among UK-listed construction stocks:

Berkeley (5,100 target price) on the strength of its order book, forward sales position and cash generation approach;

Grafton (1,050p target price) on its capital allocation and investment opportunities across Europe;

Genuit (400p target price) due to the growing demand for sustainable construction products;

Howden (870p target price) with its expanding depot network, improving distribution and international potential;

Volution (500p target price) with regulatory developments expected to drive demand for its energy-efficient ventilation products;

and Hill & Smith (2,000 target price) on its potential to expand its North American operations.

I listened to the PI World presentation.

Given that they lost a new CEO, in quick order, because he didn't quite fit, and the fact that the Chairman has stepped up to the plate until the right person is found, the business is in very good health.
That is no surprise.
The presentation is a textbook example of how to run a company, and proof that it isn't a one man band.
They impemented a lomg term policy for te development and growth of the business that is now paying off in spades.

I was impressed when I met the CEO when she was appointed and I also spoke at length to the chairman at the AGM. I cam away extremely satisfied that the comapny is in good hands, and for once the NED's are doing their job. The latter cannot be said for the vast majority of quoted businesses, where I do not see any positive influence or input emamanting from that quarter.

The company is in a very good position to move forward.
