As I see it the shorters hit this in the 2-week news lull before the first test results roll in.

Let's hope the Management put out something soon to restore confidence. I still believe that the prize is massive. The main parameter, right now, is the continued confidence from Sch. and Calfrac, and the new interest from G. Western. If big companies are interested, then shorters in London are of no weight IMO in the discussion.

Very quiet here today. I thought some of the uber-bulls who sold out at 60+ might have been along to thank me for saving them a lot of money! Fell sorry for those left holding the bag.

I did't give much credence to rumours that they may have tested already and found Ultravert ineffective but the price action does suggest a lot more is wrong than just the delay.

Mark my words, as I stated previously, all will indicate they had sold at 79p - they always do. In reality there are many left holding the parcel. Keya the dud indicated he was retaining some three quarters of his holding, and was buying more in the 50's.. Hope so!!

I rather suspect that the week ahead will prove to be particularly awful for holders of equity in HNR. In my mind the prospect of a test of 38p is almost certain, but it is how far below that it will go in the short term that is the real question. the 50 day ma is at 33p so that seems a fairly obvious short term target over the next few days, but I would not rule out single digits at some point over the next couple of months.

The share price has re-traced for a reason, and quite substantially, in a short space of time.

I'm merely suggesting that those who were so ebulliant a week or two ago proffer reasons why to those who might be staring at a paper loss right now?

That would be illuminating, I did post Thursday night that the share price wasn't moving in the direction expected, and then the RNS hit.

So is that the only issue? ;-)

Err, correct me for the simplistic view, but surely it is for those who are bullish here to be offering up reasons why the share price has re-traced from the years highs just over 2 weeks ago, by nearly 50%?

There will be a number of investors surely, wondering what the foxtrot has happened to their capital in such a very small amount of time, on a play that promises to be so ground-breaking in the O&G space?

Friday's RNS doesn't really merit a re-trace of that magnitude? And while, there may be the dark forces of shorting occurring to a small scale, on a play with a tiddly free float, that can't be the answer either.

More likely, those who have been banging the drum the loudest, have made a lot of noise and amplified the share price - and, having dropped the drum-sticks and run with their winnings on the QT, will presumably be looking for a nice little repeat in the next few weeks.

Can't knock their MO, and certainly not a unique situation, obviously.

I have no problems with your having an opinion brewster just noting the obvious inconsistency in your words as it stood out quite so much.
Would say myself that HNR do have a habit of coming out with good newsflow just when its needed most as with the recent failed head and shoulders pattern and judging by the boards here note they tend to do it just as the bears think they've got the upper hand so I'd advise bears to be careful too. This one jumps quickly in both directions and can easily catch those on leverage unawares.
