So, can anyone advise how long our money will be tied up if we choose to hold until the whole horrible scam is finished?

JP Morgan down from 2.66% (9,6955,035) to 1.14% (4,138,804)

This is the second institutional share holder that has been selling down over the past couple of days.

I know this is off topic, but relating to reinvesting hgm
funds though. I have been buying into a very small company
mno maestrano from 2p and up from recent lows, looks quite interesting.

It is moving again today, just thought I would mention it as
very quite here.

loganair- yes , I am sure you are right and it is how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer although we luckily are not in latter category but might be after brexit ( smile ) .

gecho- good luck in your search for next gold stock winner. Aussie golds like SAR , EVN, RRL etc have lovely uptrending charts and good fundamentals . I trade them at times with my CFD account

The recommendations from the advisors and so called "independent" directors are laughable considering the outlook for gold and the effect that would have had on the value of this company - they've not acted in the best interests of the 60% of shareholders who weren't "selling". However it's a done deal and so I'm out after being a holder for a number of years.

Of course, srpactive, this will change hands. But in the meantime it is a company with a Board Of Directors who passed a motion to pay dividends according to a formula related to trading. With gold trading most of this year over the PoG at the end of last, with more assets in play (Valunisty), and energy prices very low they cannot be making less than last year. They declared 5 pence a year ago so by September there should be a motion to pay at least that. After that the effective date of the offer can come into play, whenever it is and the Board can change.

The have protected themselve by "reserving the right to reduce the offer by the Dividend" but that would make the offer worth less than £3/share. The interim dividend relates to trading in the first half which should have been very profitable.

I agree, srpactive, change of control is inevitable but the interim dividend must be paid according to the formula already advised.

This deal does seem murky but surely doesn't the fact Citi is closing shorts on the company suggest that they did legitimately view 300p as fair value? Why would they hold short positions prior to the sale if they thought the company should be valued higher

Nevermind what we think or say, I do feel this will
go through at 300p, all done.

@breaktwister I'm inclined to agree. It seems strange that the other large stakeholders (non Russian) haven't taken the deal already - I would assume that they don't think it represents fair value. Really not sure what to do - I have quite a large proportion of my portfolio in hgm but I think I could easily make the 4% ish upside I'd get selling at 300p in a few months by investing it in other miner's now. And then there's the question of whether enough of the remaining shareholders will accept the deal... Hmmm

We have been robbed here. I don't have time to do the math but I assume that the other larger holders will simply do as the Board recommends and sell for a derisory sum. Maybe we as private investors should sue the Board? It is clear there is something going on behind the scenes for them to accept such a low offer, brown envelopes?

srp - Simple to explain...The stock market and investment banks are a den of thieves, stealing from the private retail investors and pension funds to line their own pockets simply because of Greed.

They sold now to help the takeover at a low price
They will probably repurchase a stake in the private company at a beneficial price . Simples
