Because of the way the U.S. have acted due to Covid and taking on the massive amount of debt, both Government and Corporate both the IMF and Institute for Foreign Affairs can see a fall in the value of the USD by 30% over the short term and continuing over the long term.

All being equal = c$550 increase in the price of gold from where it is today just because of the fall in the value of the USD.

Indeed, gold having another go at 1900

Some good nuggets in here to chew on

Some of the calcs are a bit out, for example the dividend but hey ho, so are mine sometimes and I've learnt some stuff like no tax etc on Kekura

Second try for gold at 1900, just a matter of time now

Press will whip up a storm when it goes through

Looks ĺike Kekura etc could be funded by cash while still paying a huge divi - min policy of 20% of FCF for divi is huge at 1900 gold

casual47,

Firstly battery powered cars are not nearly as green as they are purported to be.
Secondly there is not enough Rare earth minerals in the world for electic cars to become the norm. ( children are used to mine thease in some terrible conditions )
Thirdly the energy density of Petrol and Diesel is many many times higher than stored electric. ( there will never be viable electric passenger planes )
Forthly Does anyone really think that Porsche, Audi, VW, Honda, Toyota etc cannot design and build far superior cars to Tesla at a lower price point ?

I have thought for some time that the US government have been helping Tesla ( to keep the oil price down ) Amazing stock performance though !

Sorry for the rant.

I think Tesla could possibly grow in a similar way like e.g. Amazon did, becoming so dominant that they effectively are the default and set the market, thereby destroying the traditional companies in that market.

That's not to say that the Tesla shareprice is priced correctly. I have no idea what would be a correct valuation. They may be grotesquely overvalued.

The only point I'm making is that for some companies future earnings etc are insufficient indicators of value as what you are buying into is a company that is effectively defining and re-defining whole industry sectors, sometimes from scratch.

(I hold no Tesla shares and won't be buying any at any point)

The Tesla Super truck is basically a massive battery on wheels and is why I am interested in it.

Everything boils down to an anecdotal experience for you, doesn't it?

When it comes to turning an idea into $$$ there is no country that comes close to the US.

The UK has great innovators but almost none of them are able to turn it into a business, that's why nearly all of our inventions and innovations get bought and monetized by other countries.

U.S. Independent Senator on intelligent committee:

The tension between a rising power and the dominant power 12 out of 16 times in human history has led to a hot war.

The U.S. is currently the dominant power and China is the rising power, what is happen between the two countries is positive for the price of gold.

Tesla's new battery is first being produced in China and is hopefully going to be in their Chinese EV's by the end of this year and is not expected to be in their U.S. manufactured cars until mid 2021.

South Korea is the most technologically advanced country when it comes to the internet.

Technology-wise Taiwan is many years ahead of Europe or North America, this is my experience of living in Taiwan, the U.S and several European countries.

If you can, just for a moment, stop the US bashing and step back to see the big picture then you should realise that despite everything the innovation that is happening in the US will see them through the rough times for decades to come.

Where are the innovators in Russia? Who in Russia is now working on inventing something that will become a multi-billion dollar industry in 5 years time? Answer: nobody?

That is why the US will remain the leading country in the world.

The difference with Telsa vs other car manufacturers is that you are buying into a first mover advantage. The other car makers are so far behind that competitors have had to resort to pooling their resources together to try to catch up on the electrical car market.

Plus, Tesla is not just cars, it is also battery technology, again they are years ahead of the competition there.

You cannot just make a valuation of Tesla based on PE.

Good spot Logan.

Personally I do like the cyber truck - a mobile power source.
Strap on some solar panels and you're all set!

Deutsche Bank - End of USD supremacy with the permanent EURO debt created that does not have to ever be repaid back by the likes of Italy.

Even EU countries that are not in the Euro zone are also being made to take on this debt on behalf of the likes of Italy. At least with Britain having officially left the EU, Britain doesn't also have to take on this extra burden of Southern European debt.

Has anyone noticed how much of Tesla's profits come from the sale of carbon credits rather than the manufacture and sale of cars, it therefore seems to me Tesla is more like a Goldman Sachs than it is a car manufacture. No wonder why Tesla is valued more highly then most the other car manufactures put together.

Yelp in the U.S reported in mid June that 48% of all companies on Yelp had already permanently closed, the U.S. are printing dollars quicker than toilet paper is being made, no wonder why the USD is now being called 'toilet paper money' and no wonder why the price of gold is going up and up and up.

A chap in New York went to his WeWork office, his is now the only office out of 98 in the building that is still being taken, the other 97 are now vacant.

HUI at 337 is only ~20% up from its 5-year high, when gold was ~$1330/oz

Last time gold broke $1800/oz HUI flew past 600

In the U.S. the Democrats have put forward a $3 trillion 'Hero's' aid package. If passed will mean $7 trillion in aid passed by the U.S. Federal Government so far this year = $8.5 trillion Federal Government budget deficit this year already = the U.S. Federal Government is running a deficit of 40% of GDP this year which will bring the U.S. Federal debt to $29.7 trillion = U.S. Federal Debt to GDP Ratio of c145%.

Gold closed 1870+ and nore importantly at a massive 133.5k against the Ruble

5 yr chart shows the huge rise in local currency in which hgm sell their gold (50% higher than last yr)

As this is geared by the aisc etc a 50% rise in the selling price of gold is adding circa 100% extra to profit. This time last yr the shr price was £2 so not unreal to think it should be £4 now

More pronouced gains to come
