06/7/2018 10:48 | This is the worse of slides, as it's the one that the share price drops, then recovers and a tad, then drops and the pattern repeats... Like most I'll admit, wish I'd shorted at circa 160 in mid May then bought back in now, don't we all :-). CEY got hammered with some bad news, RRS got hammered earlier this year with bad news, all goldies struggling now- makes me think is it the tarrifs spooking, over and above all the normal dollar issues. | stevedaytrader
06/7/2018 10:04 | Toss up for me between this and CEY. Will hold out a wee bit longer before topping up in either | casual47
06/7/2018 09:55 | What ever happens I'll be keeping my HGM. If during the next recession the share price falls significantly then I'm likely to double my current share holding. | loganair
06/7/2018 09:48 | Do I sell my NG. and put it in to HGM? Hmmm. Decisions decisions. | haughtonhoney
06/7/2018 09:43 | Higher dollar lower gold price, Its not rocket science. | montyhedge
06/7/2018 09:29 | The reason why I think there is a recession around the corner is that there is twice the amount of debt today then there was in 2007/2008 just before the last recession and with increasing interest rates how will this debt be serviced? Within less then 10 years the cost to the US just to pay the interest on their National Debt will be higher than their military budget. It currently costs the US around $305bln a year just to cover the cost of interest payments on their National Debt. | loganair
06/7/2018 09:21 | L Okay, thank you. active | srpactive
06/7/2018 09:18 | srp - There seems to be an agreement 2 more Fed rate hikes this year will bring the interest rate to 2 1/4% and I know the Fed is desperate to get the rate to 3%. | loganair
06/7/2018 08:44 | F2 That is what they have been saying, so we all know, lets just hope as SDT mentions, they ease the hard talk, we shall see. dyor active | srpactive
06/7/2018 08:31 | @SRPActive. RBC Europe strategist just mentioned he sees 2 more Fed raises this year, then 4 next! | fangorn2
05/7/2018 22:01 | Thanks SR- will take a detailed look later, gold doing nicely, staying up there, let's see what happens, tarrifs cut in early hours uk time... fingers crossed for the morning for us | stevedaytrader
05/7/2018 19:16 | SDT Fed's minutes on kitco, it mentions some policy makers are thinking it might soon signal that FED's tightening cycle was advanced enough. dyor | srpactive
05/7/2018 19:03 | FED mins out now, being discussed, GOLD moving around a lot as normally does at this time- let's see where it settles in the next hour or so- fingers crossed ALL. | stevedaytrader
05/7/2018 17:41 | What I've been hearing about Bitcoin and Crypto currencies in general the price depends on the excitement of the next buyer. It seems to me late last year when bitcoin shot up to $20,000 it was solely because of a buying 'Frenzy' like a pack of animals feeding on a carcass. | loganair
05/7/2018 17:12 | Thanks Steve. Not intending to buy bitcoin. I do think it has taken the shine a little from our gold so a wee bit miffed about it. One of my gripes: I get that Bitcoin is 'finite' in terms of how many bitcoins can be mined, so it can provide a kind of inflation hedge of sorts but the crypto currency market is ever expanding so in that sense crypto is infinite, which makes me stay clear of it. | casual47
05/7/2018 17:04 | Casual47- crypto is divorced from any calculation, and is dependant on company rumours and payment providers- ive posted on this forum several times in he past on this. They are not regulated so cannot be a safe haven, all i can say is if you buy some only buy what u can afford to lose and hold and forget- or if u like a gamble buy and sell- i would only buy “known popular ones”, for example if i made one, would u buy some from me! In time will be accepted so all banks and providers will accept, this is not going away, and developments are progressing daily. but don’t expect to make vast profits, u could do but u could lose the lot. | stevedaytrader
05/7/2018 16:01 | Anyone know of a decent (non-tinfoil hat) opinion on what the unwinding of US QE will mean? (From google search it seems the consensus is "nothing will happen": The Fed will just hold the securities until they mature and fall off the balance sheet, so there will not be any selling. See ) | casual47
05/7/2018 15:57 | Is the price movement of Bitcoin completely divorced from these kind of calculations? If yes, wouldn't it make a more attractive haven for investors vs Gold? If no, why doesn't it appear to be? | casual47
05/7/2018 15:27 | US first data not so good, need some good news out of FED mins, and something positive later today to stall tarrifs- am expecting us to finish just above 140, surprised we're staying down | stevedaytrader
05/7/2018 10:39 | What I've been hearing, no matter what the data says the Fed will still go for two more rate hikes this year as it is desperate to get the interest rate up to 3% as quickly as possible. The data will only effect whether the Fed goes for 2, 3 or 4 rate hikes in 2019. | loganair
05/7/2018 10:31 | When the stock is low posts always get more tetchey. FED mind today look for dovish i hope, Carney speaks later today, us jobs to tomorrow, and not forgetting tariffs with china on us imports due to start in the early hours our time tomorrow- here’s some will swing or way but am not too hopeful- but continue to hold. Looking back over the last 12minths, hopefully we’ve now hit our bottom or near bottom... what carney says will impact the ftse which will impact us | stevedaytrader

05/7/2018 10:05 | srp - It is good to have disagreements or to have a little fun over the weekends, to have openly hostile and aggressive intimidating personal attacks in 24 hours has made this thread toxic. Both F2 and QP are overreacting and have completely lost it and both are having to prove things and push the point as they both insist they are right and the other is wrong. The steamroller tactics that both F2 and QP are using are leaving me and this thread feeling flattened. | loganair
05/7/2018 09:56 | Well I have tried. | srpactive
05/7/2018 09:54 | gin-sozzled indeed! what a load of unintelligible rubbish you spout. bit early in the morning to hit the bottle, isn't it? all that boozy expat living really has addled what is left of your grey cells. nothing other than pure drivel on Glencore. it is quite clear that you are an extreme fascist. hardly surprising that highly respected posters like loganair are filtering you. | quepassa |
