31/8/2022 15:47 | Agree things are unusually opaque - am very wary indeed of Ms Truss, there seem to be 3 outcomes: 1. She's not nearly as thick as she appears, and we get something approaching a continuation of what we have now; 2. She has genuine solutions, none of which she's mentioned so far, and none that I can see; 3. She's as nuts as she seems, we get NI increase shelved (daft), tax cuts (nuts), VAT cut (crazy), threats/changes to BoE independence (insane). I fear that may be in reverse order of likelihood. Businesses are going off a cliff - they don't benefit from the cap, nor have they ever. Consumer spending is going off a cliff. Gas rationing is coming (whatever happens, and whoever's in charge), with knock-on effects on certain sectors. Govnt finances, already dire, are about to get destroyed. Do you furlough the workers of the industries you temporarily close? Do you subsidise consumer energy use further? Businesses, like pubs? Where do you get the money? A quarter of our national debt is index-linked. I don't buy GS's "22% inflation" call, it's a competition for headlines, but the ascent of Truss is changing my long-held belief that we can't go above 3% base rate. I think 5% could have some major repercussions, and finally bust the last domino to fall - the property market. | spectoacc
31/8/2022 15:03 | Spec, thanks - as mentioned on the CLI board yesterday have not bought back in. Getting tempted by GPE, however the UK macro outlook is shaping up to be even weaker than I anticipated over the summer - and I'm usually too cautious. 2023 now looks dire. A ceasefire by Russia would change sentiment in a heartbeat. There might be a Truss bounce in some beaten up UK consumer stocks, provided new measures do not disappoint. | essentialinvestor
31/8/2022 08:22 | @EI - "BERENBERG CUTS HELICAL PLC TO 'HOLD' (BUY) - PRICE TARGET 375 (520) PENCE" | spectoacc
20/7/2022 11:34 | Only a small amount left now, hopefully an opportunity to add some back lower, that being said Helical can be idiosyncratic in movements. During some of the heaviest down days in March the price was pretty much unmoved. GPE may also be worth consideration on a bad day fwiw. | essentialinvestor
15/7/2022 16:47 | Thank you kind sir, added to Capco fwiw - but that is a 2/3 year view, Helical just looked too cheap short term, unless wider markets had absolutely dived this week. | essentialinvestor
15/7/2022 16:43 | Well done @EI. | spectoacc
15/7/2022 16:22 | Sold a small amount. | essentialinvestor
15/7/2022 15:21 | Make that nearly 30 pence, going back to £4 plus a share ?. Did not expect such a rapid accent. | essentialinvestor
15/7/2022 12:53 | Currently Up over 20 pence from Tuesday's low point, doubt recent volatility is complete. | essentialinvestor
14/7/2022 16:54 | Two nice days in a row, eh. | essentialinvestor
14/7/2022 10:34 | Helical trading approx £2 a share below that last figure, assume the next NAV update on on the H1. We look to be building up to a couple of large down days for wider equity markets, at least how it feels to me atm, let's see. | essentialinvestor
14/7/2022 07:38 | Agreed - what's the EPRA NAV tho? | spectoacc
14/7/2022 07:32 | Looks a solid enough update. | essentialinvestor
13/7/2022 17:43 | Overdue a better day, whether today's price action is transitory, let's see. | essentialinvestor
11/7/2022 16:19 | Slightly concerned that we've had all these REIT falls so early - interest rates to likely double from here, consumer crunch not properly kicking in until autumn. But value is value, & will out eventually. | spectoacc
11/7/2022 16:17 | Very!. I've missed the final divi at just over 8 pence on the majority of these only fair to say. | essentialinvestor
11/7/2022 16:15 | Best of luck, tho does feel like there's just too much on offer atm! Sadly I'm very long many of them already. (Quick again ;) ) | spectoacc
11/7/2022 16:13 | Now bought back all shares sold In March, whether a good idea of not!. | essentialinvestor
29/6/2022 15:10 | Spec, you are very quick off the mark!, I will give you that. Also added a small amount of Capco. | essentialinvestor
29/6/2022 15:07 | Good luck. Looking at the d/g effect on BLND & LAND today, & wondering about follow-through.. | spectoacc
29/6/2022 15:05 | Back in today. | essentialinvestor

24/2/2022 14:46 | Spec, thanks for the reply, appreciated - I've sold my modest amount at a 5% loss. | essentialinvestor
24/2/2022 14:25 | I don't follow GPE closely enough to comment, but HLCL not alone among smaller REITs in holding relatively well - but I doubt they'll stay up if/when things get worse. Eg SIR about my only riser, & BCPT was up on the day earlier too. A question for those in cash - when are you going to punt? | spectoacc
24/2/2022 11:19 | Tempted to switch funds here to GPE given their respective prices today. Any thoughts?. | essentialinvestor |
