I think HL could re-test the lows if there's a proper market correction again (probably led by the US) but otherwise it may hold above £8.

@Porsche1945 people like you currently choosing to hold cash rather than invest, is one of the reasons why HL are doing well. As you know they make a much higher basis point from cash than anything else. If rates go higher as you suggest that goes straight to HL's bottom line - especially if even more clients decide to hold cash.

With regards to UK housebuilders I think you're wrong, and it won't be anything like 2007/08 - for one thing most of them have a much stronger balance sheet than in those days. There's also a difference in quality - for example Persimmon's statement and dividend cut hasn't been taken well (1 March) but Taylor Wimpey (2 March) sounded more upbeat and actually increased their dividend and hence the shares have outperformed Persimmon since - infact they announced today that BlackRock have increased from 11.9% to 12.7%.

I actually think the Bank of England will probably continue to be more cautious than the Fed (despite higher inflation) due to the weakness of the UK economy.

Yes, that's a positive for an Exec Director to finally buy in the market (espec the FD), and wisely after the fall and just before the XD date. She's spent about £40k (at 836p) - shame it's not £400k - but it's still good news for the bulls.

Support at 845p failed on Friday. I'm aiming to buy more if it hits 812p (just above the 808p Nov low)

Maybe not back to the 7s, if there is a general market retreat then maybe but someone is buying and the up trend is intact....

This heading back to the 7’s and ftse 100 about to get found out, the whole index and dax also held up by literally 5 or 6 companies. Look under the hood and rest is awful. All looking like a very good short as reality sets back in here and US. I’m in cash, getting decent rates at the mo, no rush to buy in.

As long as Deutsche Bank and the Motley Fool don t concur on a buy recommendation I think you might well be ok

But I am happier staying on the sidelines

Good luck

Can t quite believe dax at the moment

But can understand reasoning

There is a conflict raging next door !

I would imagine like India and Israel they are not wholeheartedly imposing the sanctions that other countries have implemented as regards oil and gas

India continues to import russian oil

Germany continues to mine and burn coal(greenhouse protocol) can t think of the German words for it.

People should think long and hard about the suffering being waged by Putin and his henchmen before investing or signing any Ill informed trade deals with such craven cringe inducing countries

Staying in cash until it is resolved

I'm wondering if we're looking at different markets? Germany is close to all time highs and the FTSE has recently been above 8,000 - so I'd guess there's plenty of trading going on.

Also with markets generally doing well assets under management will be increasing and HL's holding fees for funds & shares are deducted towards the end of each month, so that bodes well for the bottom line.

There's an important support level at 845p (62% of 1,024p to 735p range) which is currently holding on a close of day basis. If however we get a daily or weekly close below 845p, then the next support would be 808p (Nov low), followed by the October low at 735p.

I like Hargreaves for the fact that you can phone a number and speak to a real person at the other end.
But I just think in the present markets no one is doing much in the way of striking deals and this is going to hurt the bottom line re brokerage.
Think they might have further to fall and will try to retest 730 level from few months ago
Will continue to avoid while the markets remain like myself indecisive

Good spot @jubber - if anything you'd hope settlement would be good news for HL? ie. hopes of a settlement for HL or the whole thing being dropped?

Is there the possibility however slight that news of the settlement by link in relation to the Woodford debacles has unearthed the skeletons long considered buried
And this is impacting upon the Hargreaves share price at the moment.

Regardless not many people willing to invest in any share ahead of a raft of figures from the various companies reporting

Am surprised it has held up so well but this level here 840 level does not tempt me dividend raise not withstanding

Avoiding Abdn for same reason as can envisage significantly lowe volume of shares being bought and sold as investors hold on to cash

Awaiting results over next few weeks and news on dividends before dipping in again.

Careful out there !

Thank you for that, and personally I agree that HL are cheap. Inbought in at 770 first time round and have traded a little aold at 960 and biught back and sold at 930 and about to buy back again as i think they are undervalued longterm as well. I was just pointing out rhe reason for the large fall was probably jefferies downgrade and target price of 800. They are right I believe though, all the "youngsters" talk about is "Vanguard" funds and platform. Never heard anyone under 30 mention Hargreaves.....
