18/12/2022 07:27 | Reading that case being brought against link is due to start this week so expecting further ups and downs As an aside have started following supp (aka wpct ) in a previous life Some share buy back taking place so will watch for further developments Santa rally a diminishing possibility so not expecting any great moves to upside or any uptick in dealing as investors stick to their positions until after new year Myself still looking to sell into any rally but increasingly unlikely Happy to be wrong but ?? Good luck all | jubberjim
09/12/2022 20:30 | I will reserve judgement re the appointment. Perhaps I missed it, but what strategy is Peter Hargreaves proposing? | lomax99
09/12/2022 16:28 | No comment from anyone here on the new CEO (Dan Olley)? No, I'd not heard of him either (despite being a non-exec for 3 years)! The market seemed to like it - at least the market probably likes the certainty of having an appointment. His CV sounds great for digital, but rather limited for financial services so I have some concerns. Peter Hargreaves commented too | ochs
02/12/2022 15:40 | Bid at 873p today so good call for a bounce. | bighairyspider
23/11/2022 12:15 | I would do the same. I would add around 780 and 740. I bought at 816p yesterday hoping for a bounce, I'm currently still holding that position with a stop at 804p. | ochs
23/11/2022 11:24 | Or, alternatively, it is now looking oversold and will bounce back :). Happy to add if we touch 735. | lomax99
23/11/2022 07:52 | So yesterday HL closed around 811p, which is below the 815.75p support. This could mean a further drop today, and could potentially expose it to 780p, and another test of the 735p low in the next few weeks. | ochs
21/11/2022 18:25 | I follow fundamentals but find charting helpful too. HL is interesting at the moment as it's now in a bit of trading range between 815p and 942p. This is because there's a Support at 815.75p (61.8% Fibonacci of the recent 945p high down to the October low of 735p) Going the other way there's a Resistance at 942p (61.8% Fibonacci of the 735p low going up to the post Capital Markets Day high of 1,069p) In both cases the Resistance or Support would only be classed as broken if we closed the day above 942p or below 815.75p. Today we tested the support, and traded just below it, but closed well above around 834p. On Monday 14 November the price got as high as 945p, before closing well below the resistance level. | ochs
19/11/2022 13:58 | Hi @stewart64 the thing that RBC were worried about was the large 5 year investment programme announced in February (£175m committed). I'd assume that the board would only appoint a new CEO who was 100% behind it, but that might rule out some contenders. It's a shame they didn't already have an internal candidate lined up like AJB did recently - it would have made the whole thing more seamless and less room for doubt in the market. | ochs
18/11/2022 13:42 | Ochs..wouldn't have thought there was much to mess around with re.strategy. Heck a platform is a platform, HL just has the advantage of being the biggest, has the economies of scale and probably seen as the safest bet by the public. HL might be a fallen star, but it doesn't really fit the profile of one because I see platforms as very much the future and managed funds more the past. | stewart64
18/11/2022 10:31 | It's more of a snippet rather than an article, it heads the market movements commentary. Headline grabbing rather than anything else, nothing new and one analyst's comment. Not sure how much real weight anyone would attribute to this particular snippet. | lomax99
18/11/2022 09:14 | Article in The Times this morning about Broker comment yday - so probably explains yesterday's big fall. "...RBC argued that short-term uncertainly hanging over the stock meant it would struggle to outperform its sector peers over the next year." They highlighted a few issues such as the search for a new CEO and the risk that they might then change HL's long term investment strategy. I can't see the full article now - be great if someone else with access wouldn't mind copying & pasting? | ochs
18/11/2022 09:04 | @Stoopid I currently use OvalX (used to be called ETX) and they are very good, better than IG in my opinion. | ochs
17/11/2022 14:16 | Who do you short HL. With? | stoopid
17/11/2022 14:15 | Same, bought last monday at 787, sold 937 on the back of the 15% rise in 2 days and back in today at 824........Been lucky, will probably fall tomorrow again and I will be thinking I should have waited..... | stoopid
17/11/2022 12:55 | Took a punt at 836 just now. Steel myself for short term losses, it's like Zebedee at the moment. | stewart64
16/11/2022 18:54 | @stewart64 as well as rising markets being good for trading volume and hence dealing commissions they also boost assets under management and this has a fairly immediate effect on the bottom line as HL calculate their fees on client's unit trust/OEIC fund portfolios on a monthly basis. | ochs
16/11/2022 18:50 | I'm a long term bull of HL, but after the recent rise I jumped in on Monday morning with a smash & grab short at 941p. Gotta play the markets! | ochs
16/11/2022 17:27 | Re.glitches..Still think it is the biggest and best platform. Obvs biased as a customer; not a shareholder btw, the price has been unrealistically expensive in the past. But it's almost in the income as well as growth category now with the price collapse and I am bearing it in mind as a potential buy. If I'm anything to go by, Q2 might be decent. Can't be the only one that has beent trading madly into the Market volatility and with Markets being on the rise it should be good results for the customer and HL. Had my best and busiest trading month ever. Their active savings platform is also very worthwhile now fixed bonds are nudging 5%. | stewart64
16/11/2022 11:58 | Although down like a dogg again maybe due to folks cutting their monthly direct debits(?) | growthpotential
11/11/2022 10:23 | According to Short tracker, 3 funds have been reducing their short holdings this week. They all have some way to go..... | lomax99
10/11/2022 16:37 | Damn, 7.5% today wow. Glad i bought at 775.... can't quite believe its recovered to 890 so quickly... | stoopid
10/11/2022 14:05 | They should not pay the ambulance chasers, anyone who does not understand capital is at risk should not be investing in equity/capital markets, quite apart from the fact that W mgmt. misled/lied to HL.For the patient, IMO, this one has a long way to go. | lomax99
09/11/2022 07:59 | How long have you got @GP? Unless you stop out much higher you need to have funds available to average down (assuming you still have faith) otherwise it's a very long road. | ochs
08/11/2022 21:23 | When this back to 1500 breakeven? | growthpotential |
