Yes, I know :-( was hovering over the buy button to top up and thought it might drift lower. Ah well...I reckon the final divi will be announced on results day on 19th....and I reckon it will be ex divi before end of Sept. But, you may be right....

ps. if you wanted 27p off the current price you could have bought around 732/35p last week and also benefited from the forthcoming dividend!!

@Stoopid - check out the below page from the HL website. AGM is 8 Dec, and dividend payment date says 'TBC – December 2023'. Doesn't mention XD, so we'll find out on 19th.

Final results are 19th Sept with the AGM on the 11th. The final divi will as it usually is between 20th Sept and 30th Sept with pay out in October...Might even get a special Divi if profits are good enough. Depends on the results on the 19th Sept. Wouldn't bet my house on it though....One of the reasons (I think) HL share price is struggling is because the Woodford saga continues to drag on and its taking forever to unravel his funds and pay investors. HL. could still face massive fines if found complicit or negligent in selling those funds. Some of the articles I've read are saying HL. is a great buy. So, might look to add when the divi drops 27p or so off the price when it goes ex divi

Managed to find support, at £7.50, Charles Schwab in US trades at P/E 23 & DY 1.7%,
so HL seems very cheap in comparison.

@Stoopid, with results delayed until mid-Sept I doubt the xd date will be until well into Oct this year.

It's got an approx 29p fall comming in two weeks or so when they go ex Divi. So unless price rises a bit from today we might well see 700/710 or under....

Well at 670 it would be on a PE of 9.8 and a DY 6.2%, hopefully I will be able to pick some up at that level, or below, before a trade or PE buyer takes them out.

So the fall to the 740/742p range today leaves only one support left (735.75p from Oct 2022) before the trapdoor could open towards Porsche1945's target of 660/680p.

their business is very difficult to replicate. as i see it they sit somewhere between vanguard / cheap as chips free brokers, and very expensive advisors. that's a huge and growing market, from which they take a small high margin slice.

i think private equity would love the recurring income. seems to be some scope for changing the strategy / cutting costs, if peter hargreaves is to be believed. again, something private equity, in their quest to make a quick buck, aren't afraid of doing.

Suspect the current fall is overdone, also think management will get better credit in due course.

There's very little support left on the chart before we hit new lows.

762p was taken out last week with a close of 756p on Friday (although of course we are back above that level today).

The only proper 2 support levels left are 748p (March 2023) and 735p (Oct 2022).

If markets were to fall a lot more in the next few months then 735p could easily be taken out, so it mostly depends on markets in general. Also full year results & outlook (on 19 Sept) plus an update on the Strategic Investment could make a difference in either direction.

IMV an activist could step in performance doesnt pick up. what hasn't changed is this is a very strong business that has sticky customers, with recurring revenue streams. those strengths have continued despite what is generally considered very average / poor management, which is probably evidence of the quality of the franchise.
