With this ruling a host of states that have flirted with the idea of legalising sports betting will be celebrating, including Delaware, Connecticut, Iowa, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. With many of these states having already mapped out legislation for a legalised sports betting market in the event of today’s result.

The underground betting scene in the US is estimated to be worth up to $150bn a year and one piece of research showed before the ruling that a striking down of the law would see 32 states offering sports betting within five years.

I understand that there are 3 states that a ready to move pretty quickly, which I would take to mean in the next 3 months, with their own legislation and up to another 15 states with in the next 12 months.

Another significant development in the US in 2017 was the referral of New Jersey’s challenge to existing legislation that prevents states from enabling a regulated online sports betting market, with the US Supreme Court expected to announce judgement in the coming months. A number of states have already commented that should the Supreme Court rule positively then they will look to regulate online sports betting. The Group is already licensed in New Jersey and is in discussions with a number of potential partners in the event online sports betting is permitted in the US...

...Looking further ahead, we are paying close attention to regulatory developments and opportunities in the US. In October 2017 Pennsylvania passed legislation to allow online casino and poker in the state. The detail of the legislation is being worked on and we are in active discussions with a number of parties regarding the provision of B2B services in Pennsylvania.

The US Supreme Court is due to rule in the coming months over the possible repeal of PASPA (The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act), legislation that effectively prohibits US states from legalising online sports betting. A positive ruling in favour of the states could transform the regulated online betting proposition in the US. The Group believes it is in a strong position should the sports betting market open given that we can offer partners a full technology suite from sports to poker to casino, and are already licensed to supply gaming technology in New Jersey.

Under this licence, issued to bwin.party entertainment (NJ), LLC and bwin.party USA, Inc, the GVC Group offers online games of chance (poker and casino) in cooperation with Marina District Development Company, LLC d/b/a Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which holds an internet gaming permit. bwin.party entertainment (NJ), LLC operates the consumer-orientated offer available to customers located in New Jersey via the nj.partypoker.com website. Following the Effective Date, the Combined Group intends to supply online poker and casino services to customers located in New Jersey on the basis of the licence held by the GVC Group.

The Ladbrokes Coral Group has a 79 per cent. indirect controlling ownership interest in Stadium Technology Group, LLC, a company creating and supporting software and technology for race books and sports pools. based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stadium Technology Group, LLC is licensed by the Nevada Gaming Commission as a gaming manufacturer, distributor and information service provider. Ladbrokes Coral as its controlling company is also required to be licensed in Nevada and holds an information service provider licence.

Sunday Telegraph, Wmh in last ditch attempt with government over fob limit. Wants to consult with government before final decision is made which is expected this week.
